Default Castrol Synthetic?

I was at Pepboys the other day getting some ball joint tools and I noticed a castrol Syn. Oil in a black bottle. Anybody ever use the stuff?

we use it at work for the volvo and mazdas that come in synthetic for the oil change. but then again we also use Fram filters.... so you be the judge but a synthetic oil is better than regular.

im tihnking of going to amsoil or the purple brand. those are the high end brands of sythetic oil

i changed to mobile 1 oil and filter about 2 oil changes ago. when the passenger side of the engine compartment caught fire, i was amazed that the filter had no damage. even though it was engulfed in flames for about 5 minutes. haha. seriously though, it's good stuff.

I take it you mean Royal Purple? That's some good stuff.

I personally use Valvoline Max Life Syn Blend.

When money is less tight I'll switch to Royal Purple Full Synthetic. But 8 bucks a quart is a bit too steep for me right now. At least, that's what it costs around here.

RP will be what I most likely go too for the next oil change. i've got pennzoil in it, added some mystery oil to hopefully knock the sludge out when i swap out the oil next time. I've had that itch for almost 2 years now, lol. Well, in my Nova anyway. Just curious about the Castrol cuz I have used there GTX formula before and it was pretty good stuff. Not that I would reccommend or not recommend it, it just did the job with no faults. Didn't know they made a syn. blend.

from what i've heard, mobil 1 changed their base so it's really not one of the top synthetics anymore. castrol syntec is what i'll be putting in next time around, at $17 for a 5-quart jug it's hard to beat versus the $23 for the 5-quart mobil 1

A Fram oil filter is the worst thing you can do to an engine.
