The never ending mpg plummit
K, the mpg's just keep getting lower. The overhead finally went to an all time low this morning. When I started the truck, it was at 8.8 mpgs. WTF. Is my truck dying or something?? I mean everything seems normal, everything works, it's got the same power, I just don't get it. It always seem when I drop my vehicle off at the bodyshop or the mechanics, I'll come back to it like 2-3 days later, and it will be down a whole 1 mpg. The other day I had it back to 10.5mpg. I dropped it off at the bodyshop. Went to go start it 4 days later when I picked it up, and it was at 9.0mpgs. LOL what the hell is going on here? Is this normal for it to just be continually getting ****tier and ****tier. I won't be suprised by the end of the winter to be in the 7's. I mean I really try hard not to hit it on the streets. And usually I'd think it was getting lower because I keep going through deep snow in 4 LOW, but it was doing this before it even started snowing, and it's gay. Any thoughts why it just keeps getting lower? Every morning when I start it, it's either lower or stays the same. I use to get 12mpgs when I got this truck. Now I'm "LUCKY" if I can get it to stay in the 9's and 10's...I mean don't get me wrong, I can get over it, I love this truck...but I think it can do better than this....
Winter is a hard time to just MPG as there is alot more of just idling. Also When you climb 4' snow piles at the end of the driveway or drive through a foot of snow will take a little extra gas. Just be patient and it should come back up in the spring. I just gave up on checking my mileage as it is never where I would like, but love my truck so I just accept it. Just fill it up when it needs it and drive it like you stole it. LOL.
I hear ya,.. I can't stand looking at that Over-Head MPG thing!
I KNOW my mileage is horrible so I don't look.
I'm getting about 8 or 9 in traffic driving.
I've NEVER, I mean NEVER seen the high side of 15 mpg on the highway.
I can balloon my tires 10 lbs. over the max air rating, remove everything
including my shoes and socks and it doesn't change.
Horrible,.. Just HORRIBLE.
But you know what? it ok,.. At least your not driving a chebby.

LOL it's true, it just sucks! I mean I usually just like to put it on the setting that tells you what your getting as your drive. When I'm on the highway, I can get it to like 17mpg. But as soon I accellerate, yeah she just keeps going down and down haha!

When your driving a kick a$$ truck that everyone goggles over, who cares what your getting. I mean my V10s trip computer tells me Im getting 8.2 all the time when Im actually getting 6.8/7.5 mpg average normal driving, I hardly believe these on boards can determine actual fuel usage from trucks that have been modified.
To reset: hold both buttons down at the same time. Don't leave the display onMPG it is too distracting. I leave mine on tempature. I only switch it to MPG once and a while to get a laugh. The lowest I've seen is 6.5: towing at 31' 5th up a mountain range with the A/C cranked. My average mpg goes down in the winter a little bit too. Getting crappy gas milage is all part of owning a ram: I'm fine with that!
