If you can get a hold of an infrared thermometer you can test the temps before and after the cat, should be a little bit hotter coming out than going in.
I think harbor freight has one for $29 right now, pretty good deal.
Mine was something like 300 degrees hotter going into the cat, thats very bad.
ok i bought a set of exhaust manifold gaskets and will install them this weekend will give an update. if this does not wrk then new heads will be on the way.
If #5 is repeatedly misfiring, you may just need to inspect that head and rebuild it if the valve seat is not cracked. Misfires can be caused by a stuck valve, which may be your case. Getting the head rebuilt is a far cry cheaper and easier than shelling out big bucks for new heads you may not need (yet).
That's what my friend said. Like I stated earlier in the post I was running Iridium skp plugs which I found out were too " hot " for my ignition system. I bought a can of Sea Foam yesterday and one of the proceedures was to SLOWLY pour 1/3 of the 160z can into the TB while the engine was warm and running . Then shut down the engine wait 5 minutes then restart. This procedure is to clean the valves. What do you think?
