Tail Light covers not sticking..
Well I finally got around to getting the stock tail lights back onto my truck and then I put the GTS smoked tail light covers on about 3 days ago in a warm garage. Well today I was backing out of my driveway so I could snowblow it, and my brother was backing me out. Then he told me to stop, I was confused. And then he picked something up, it was the tail light cover. This irritated me because I had a feeling those silly fricken sticky **** wasn't going hold up to anything. Do you guys know of anything safe that I can use to really make that tail light fricken stick, but also won't ruin my stock tail light if I ever have to take them off???
if u didnt have to take them back off i would say 3m red double sided sticky tape. They stuff is like impossible to remove from anything. I saw a how its made eppisode on that one of the only street signs left after the new orleans hurricane was stuck to the pole using 3ms red tape. Ur gonna have a hard time fining something removable thatsa good hold
man the stufff that comes on them in bulletproof. i woulda waited till spring. to put em on. i ran into the same problem with my car and i went to a local bodyshop and they had this 3m marine duty stuff. i dont want to call it velcro because its not but u no the stuff im talking about , its what comes on the light covers. the orignal stuff is called 3m duralock. but the 3m marine duralock strips worked awsome. they hold up at 220 + kms an hour. i wish i still had the package , id post a pic but im sure you can find it .
Well I just don't know why they came off? I mean I thought that stuff was supposed to be like kickass, but they fell off within 3 days. Course it's been extrmely cold and snowing since I've had them on, but still, I'm pissed. and I cant risk putting them on permanently incase I ever get pulled over for them...hmmmm
When you put them on, did you clean the lights well and make sure you removed all of the oils? Also since it is so cold, it would have been a good idea to use a blow dryer to make them stick better.
Use the 3m tape, clean BOTH surfaces with an ammonia based cleaner, and let it sit for 24 hrs in the warm garage to let the glue set.
To remove, soak the tape down with zippo lighter fluid and let it saok for a couple of minutes, then gently start to pry off. If it hangs up, squirt again and let soak.

Yeah I cleaned the tails real good with water, and then with the pads they supply. I also installed them in a very warm garage with a space heater on too. Then I let it sit for about an hour in the garage until my dad needed his garage back. So it's been in freezing weather since, but the initial installation was in very ideal conditions. Sighh...can they be reused to again, or what else can I use that won't destroy my tail lights but will make these bastards stick...thank go they didn't fall off while I was driving .

Replace it with some new 3M double sided tape. Try to find the type that holds something like 5lbs per square inch. I redid the ventshades on theside windows of my ram because they were starting to come off andnow they areSOLID. IDK about the cold i putsome taillight covers on my dakota when it was about 10F andthey never came loose or fell off, heck most of theadhesive automotive accessories such as tallight covers, window shades, bug deflector shields, etc. are attached with an automotive tape manufactured from 3M.
**edit** oh and make sure its the outdoor/weatherproof type
