NEW 2009 WHAT YOU GUYS THINK!!!
and I don't know why the hell these designers thing people like bling bling rims and low profile tires on their trucks.
Do they even make regular cabs anymore? Or do I have to buy a minivan truck in 2009? I got an idea... you wannna get better mileage? don't round the car out... Lose a thousand pounds worth of cab. Move the back window right up behind the driver seat. Holy ****... it's a revelation...

When I first read that the '09 1500 would have a diesel option (believe it or not, reports say a V8 Cummins turbodiesel, rated at 260-300hp and 460 lb-ft torque), I was really excited. But since diesel fuel is currently selling for about $.40-$.50/gal more then premium where I live, even the better mileage of an engine like that (some say 20-25mpg) would not be worth the cost of the fuel.

CTD:
20mpg x 28 gallons = 560 miles
Hemi:
14mpg x 33 gallons = 462 miles
So for every $100 dollars you spend on gas, you will get about another 100 miles out of the CTD, not to mention diesel is only so much more than gas in the winter when it is used for heating oil.
Ya, that's true I guess, never actually did the math. My truck is paid off though, so all I have to spend on it is the cost of gasoline. With a new CTD, i'd have cost of diesel plus a $300-$400/month truck payment too.
I like it from a visual standpoint. If I didnt already havea car and an SUV payment, Id get rid of my 2nd gen in a second for that thing. It is Tundra-ish, but if someone (everybody) copies your ground-breaking design, no reason you cant do a little copying right back.
I look at it this way,13 years ago if you wanted a truck, you were basically driving different variations of a refrigerator-square/boxy and shapeless. The 2nd gen Ram changed all that, and theres alot of great choices now. I love the look of3rd gens, the Titans and the Tundras. Even the Silverado isnt as butt ugly as its always been. Stillcant get into the Fords though.

The Ford superduties are going to be the only trucks that still look like trucks...
If only they'd start putting cummins turbo diesels in them...
