Default -Cold Air Intake Kit-

Alright fellas, what's the scoop on cold air intake kits? I understand many of you have gone with the hat, but I don't want to go down that route. I like the feeling of buying a complete kit that is somewhat like the stock intake configuration. I still don't know what to pick though...AEM, K&N, Volant? Anyone know, anyone have pictures of their set-ups. Input would be great. After the headers are in, I want to get the cold air intake badly. Then I want to get the Fastman TB to compliment everything. Thanks guys!

the cold air intakes really help the diesels. I am not up to date on the gass engines. although it should help increase air flow in them as well.

I say if your gonna go cold air go K&N. As far as I'm concerned they are the athority on air filtration. I've got mine hooked up to my fastman 52 and I think its great. Check out my cardomain site in my sig, I've got a picture on there.

Out of the ones you mentioned i would go with a K & N unfortunately they do not make a trueflow that will fit your truck...

Silver posted a report on here awhile ago about how cold air intakes don't work very well with out kegger intakes. I'm sure it's not far from the top if you search it. So if you're interested check out the M1 intakes. They're more functional with a cold air intake.

Out of the three you listed I'd go with the K&N.

Look into a ram air box as well.

If you'll note, it looks as though it uses a round filter as well...give it some thought. Take a peak at Silver_dodge's engine, I think it looks pretty damn tough with that round filter on there.

I have an S&B intake on mine and have been very happy with it. Noticed better throttle response and a pickup in peppiness for lack of a better word. Looks nice too. The filter has access to cold air from the fender well, but is protected from sucking in dirt and H2O, which I like since occaisionally I go wheelin'

If I remember correctly when I was researching kits, The K&N was a 4-ply filter and the S&B was an 8-ply. Pretty much identical flow characteristics, 1,000,000,000 mile warranty blah blah blah....

Got mine from Verocious, they are one of the vendors on here

Now if someone else drove my truck would they notice it, probably not... but you will notice the difference

Could you explain what it is that made you sick of your CAI? I'm trying to figure out why some people seem to hate it so much.
