If you go by what is on the door you will be sorry. I have purchased 4 new cars. In order to get the same size from the factory you have to go up one or two sizes-even on cars. They come from the factory smaller for some reason. A guy who had been in the tire business 36 years rolled two tires out to an89Dakota I had. The "factory size" was too small and the size I needed was one size up. So If it says 225 go up to 245, etc. Roll it out to your truck so you can see. He also said to keep my tires at 38 psi when the factory said 32.

What I was really looking for is an answer to why Costco won't fit 245 75 R 16, on my Truck as they were an optional tire size.
Dude, I'm not busting your ***** but the problem is your are looking for brand named tires at the lowest possible price - Costco. Lowest price usually means poorest service and it goes for everything you buy. I suggest that you find a more flexible shop even if it means that you will pay more for the service you are looking for. After all, you are looking for a service - that service is a shop who will install larger tires than stock. BTW, you should be able to fit 285's on your rims if they are 7 inches or wider. Good luck.

Just take the wheels off the truck and get another ride to take them down there without the truck. Then they won't have a vehicle to compare size chart to. Or tell them it goes on a sport model.

The door sticker on my truck is for a 2500 series truck. The factory put the wrong one on.....

I had a 1999 Dodge Ram Quad Cab (with stock suspension and stock tires, no less) and I was running Bridgestone Dueler A/T 285/75R16 tires with no rubbing whatsoever.

BTW, they looked nice, filled up the wheelwells, and gave me excellent traction offroad, FWIW.

Just my $.02

Anyone able to report better MPG with the stock tire size of 245/75/16 verses the optional 265/75/16?
I have 265/75/16 right now on my 1998 Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4x4 w/ 104K miles, I get 10.9 city (I drive 99% city).
Other than the optional tire size the truck is bone stock.

To all who contributed to my question on this topic, a thank you.
I finally got my Tires, but not from Costco,I guess that some here were right their too big a company7 and don't need my business. Afte nearly 20 years of buying tires from them. I went to another tire dealer who would take my Coin, and I now have the ones that I wanted in the first place, no problems.
Again guys thanks for the advice and input, were back on the road, and truckin.

Forgot to mention the tires I finally got were Michelins, as thats what I always use on all my Trucks.
There not cheap but in the long run they pay for themselves.
