Flowmaster Race Series Mufflers
ORIGINAL: RamGuy318
the 10 series will be pretty loud. And 20dodge, im not sure of why my truck isnt loud, at idle sometimes you can barely hear it. Should i swap out a different muffler? like the super 40? or super 44? My flowmaster now is a 40 series but not sure if its the delta flow one or original series one. I hit the side of my converter and i dont hear anything rattling around so i dont think its clogged. What would you do if it was your truck?? I too am looking for that tone. i have a 5.2L engine.

Tonight me and my brother switched trucks on the way home. He drove mine, and I drove his. It was hard adjusting to his truck, there just a lot different. His is an F-350 so its naturally tall, but it's not "lifted". It's weird, he spent more money on his exhaust and put a fricken true dual on it. The thing is practically straight piped and it's a 460 big block! YET...my truck is just rediculously loud, all the time, no matter what speed. I think it has to do with how oversized my tires are too. The fact the truck is constantly working to retain speeds is always letting that muffler scream, which roccks. Anyway we exchanged some flybys and what not, and it was just really spectacular getting to see my truck from the viewers standpoint. It just looked so damn big with those 35" tires and the liftkit. Then he'd go flying by and when the exhaust tips would pass me, this just amazing aggressive flowmaster tone would fill the cab up, it's just so cool. I cannot wait to get those longtube headers on, it's going to be INSANE!
Man, that video was kind of hard to justify the muffler though, the tire burning kind of overshadowed it. So v10 power, you don't think the Flowmaster 10 series mufflers have good tone? The reason he wants to go with them is because he wants something that will be as free flowing as the dynomax bullets and as physically small, while retaining the tone of a 40 or 44 series muffler. I mean it just is kind of ugly having two big flowmaster mufflers sitting side by side next to each other underneath his truck. If we do the tiny 10 series mufflers, they'll fit snug underneath the frame like the bullets, be just as flowing as the bullets almost, and be very loud, yet with a nice flowmaster tone. Hmm...we got to make sure we know what were picking before he gets his headers put in. He wants the guy putting the headers in to swap the mufflers out while its in there too, so decisions decisions..
Oh, you live in Maine?? Idk...I really wouldn't waste my time getting the magnaflow cat. Unless you are concerned, but there is no way to get caught for something like that. Bring your truck to a trusted mechanic thats willing to do it for you and have him take your existing catalytic converter, and have him gut it. I don't really know the whole differance with the two different 40 series mufflers though. I just assumed that if it was "40 series anything" then she was goin to be loud. Unless your worried about getting caught, which in Maine is highly unlikely, then just get it gutted. I had the magnaflow hi-flow cat, and it was OK, but theres a reason why I had it gutted anyway, and sure enough, it got louder and snappier. I even picked up a little power too.
well thats my problem, i dont want to get into trouble and i dont have anyone around to help me out. i thought by adding tips it would change the tone of it and i could hear it better because at idle all you hear is "air" coming out, no growl or anything its really quiet at idle.
Live in South Portland, right next to Portland. I was goin to say you should come to the guy I had mine done from. He'd slap an inspection sticker on their too. Why are you concerned of getting into trouble? I can't think of a scenario where anybody would even know.
