Default Tune Up Time!!

I'm a do-it-yourself guy. It's running kinda funny ( sudden lack of power and feels weak sometimes) so I want to tune up my truck, but I don't know all the components. I know, of course, spark plugs, plug wires, coil, and pcv valve. Are there any parts I'm overlooking? What parts and how often?

What about fluids? Diffs, tranny (+filter), motor oil, radiator flush.... hoses if you need 'em, check out the belt, etc..

It's got a Fram air filter, had to by-pass fried AC compressor but gained several horses... What about sensors that expire?

HMM, the cel will usually tell you when a sensor expires, also is the FRAM clean, I dont care if its a K/N if its dirty your CFM will be greatly reduced

or the autolite xtreme performance. I run them and they are the best plugs for the money, and I do a lot of off-roading. On a normal plug, i would end its life at 10000 miles. These are the best. Also cap, rotor, go with the best kind at O'reillys. I can't remember the name. But they are worth the money. Go with a gates belt. You'll pay $50, but its worth it. I have 25,000 on mine and its not even starting to crap or stretch. Wires, go with the Taylor Mag wire set at O'Reillys. I think they are around $30. I did just that on my truck about 8000 miles ago and wow what a power jump again. The truck was running like crap before that. Now if you do your own car wash and don't off-road, get the eldebrock triangle air cleaner. You will have to make and bend a stud for it, but it is better than a K&N air filter. Makes a nice sound too starting up. I ran a K&N air filter before this and when i switched i noticed some what better performance out of it. Thats what I suggest for a tune up. You'll never spend better money

Check your intake plenum for an oil leak.

If your o2 sensors have more than 50k think about changing them. They lose their sensitivity over time and may not set a MIL light or code.

I AGREE WITH RABBER O2 SENSORS GO LAZY AT 50K AND WONT SET A CEL! DONT FORGET FUEL FILTER (IF YOUR GOING ALL OUT) ITS IN THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP MOD ITS A FILTER/REGULATOR PEOPLE FORGET ABOUT IT! OUT OF SIGHT AND REACH OUT OF MIND! CHECK THAT INTAKE TO! IF IT GOT HIGH MILES ON IT CHECK FUEL PRESURE Engine at curb idle 339 ±34 kPa (49.2 ±5 psi) Pressure Leakdown (fuel pump not engaged) Not fall below 30 psi for 5 minutes! HOPE THIS HELPS
