Starting a project, sugestions?
I am looking to get Rims and tires for my 00' ram and was originally going to go with 305/70R16 Mickey thompson MTZ's or BFG mud terrains. But after some thought I wanted to go with either 35x12.50R15 on some 15x10 rims, or 315/75R16 on 16x10 rims. I Test fitted a 15" rim this afternoon and had a guestimated just shy of quarter inch of clearance between the rim and caliper so I figure I could go with 15 inch rims and be safe (for cheaper tires). If I go with the 35's or equivilent I plan on putting on a 2 or 3 inch suspension lift kit to clear the tires but I am not sure where the best place to get a good kit that has either a rear add a leaf or replacement spring (not blocks), and new coils for the front instead of spring spacers. Also on my rim selection I want to go with a 10 inch wide rim and the backspacing is causeing me some concern. I want to be sure I get the right size to ensure the trucks happiness in the long haul (she only has 57,000 miles on her as of now).
Any suggestions would be helpfull. thanks

All I know is that I put a 15 inch rim off of my 91 F-150 that I got rid of on the front dirvers side and drove it up the road and back and there was no rubbing at all so I figure they wouldnt be a problem. If there is something other than that which I dont know please inform me, I dont want to mess it up in any way.
You might get away with a 15x8 but with a 15x10 you will definitely start rubbing against the tie rod end and even more so with the wheel weights whether its on the outside edge or inside of the rim, and if its on the inside, the weight will hit the caliper. So no, the 15 inch rims will not work. I have been there. That would explain why the rim is 16" stock. Clearance issues.
im running 15x9 wheels on my 95 1500 and no problems at all. i think i read somewhere that the 98 and up front calipers are a litlle bit bigger but im not sure. But like i said im not having any issues with rubbing at all. they have been on there for going on 5 years now
I was hopeing that I could use 15's to get a little better price on tires, but I guess I will pay the 20 dollars more per tire for the 16's.
Any suggestions on what lift to get, only want a 2 or 3 inch suspension that does not include blocks

Oh, so I guess the 15x10's I ran with 35x12.50's for a while weren't really 15" wheels?
The ones I had were 15x10 with 3.5" BS. They cleared the calipers AND the steering linkage.

I am not looking for argument on here. I have tried the 15s on my truck and they won't work. Now it doesn't mean it won't work on other trucks, cause it will depend on the front axle. So. I am glad they work for you, I was saying they didn't for me and a friend of mine.
