My friend has a 1999 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with the 318 in it. automatic.. He has to buy a vehicle speed sensor for it but the part store needs to know what tranny he has. I searched and found where to find the code on the tranny, but he is down in florida and cant locate the code.

I would think after searching its a 46re but want to be sure..

Could someone help me out quick. Is there a way to check via the vin code?

 

It could be a 44RE or 46RE, It don't matter. They both take the same sensor.Even ifits a 47RE still the same sensor.

 

open glove box or under hood, it will say what tranny.

 

Yep,motorbreath is right.Raise the hood and look up,should be a sticker that has that and more info.
