Just wanna know if a 5.9L from an 02 will fit in my 99 dodge ram 1500

yes.. im sure the PCM will work to as long as its for a 5.9

hmm.. ok im a newb.. so is the PCM the electronics? cause i've got a V6.. and from what i understand the electronics will need to be switched.. and is the 5.9 a V8.. and is a decent motor that i could work with to get some nice power from?

throw a cummins in it, then you got some power. I would actually go with the 4 cylinder cummins "4BT". excellent fuel economy

To put a 5.9 in your truck that currently has a V6 in it will be a fairly straight foward swap, but you will need the PCM/ECU (which is the computer), the harness for the computer, the engine, new motor mounts, new radiator, new transmission etc.....

I would think the best, and easiest way to do this would be to have a donor truck so you can get everything off of it. look for a "parting out" truck or one that has been wrecked.

Right.. my plans are to get a wrecked truck and gut it to do the swap... now is there anythings i shoud look out for when doing this swap.. any key things i need to make sure i have with the new engine? certain wires plugs etc. and what all does the PCM include? and do i need to make sure the donor truck is a certain year make and model? (i have 99 dodge ram 1500) I REALLY APPRICIATE THE INFO nhlbill.. you have been very helpful!! Kudos!!

If its an automatic get a donor truck thats an automatic as well. Same for manual...
