Someone Stole my Pride & Joy RETURNED!!!!!!!
That really sucks dude, Im sorry but its very unlikely to get ur truck back, most of the time they will strip the **** out of it junk the rest, or they stash it for like 6-12 months in a garage. I Would put an add in the paper or somthin, make a reward to who ever finds the truck. Its mostly likley the person lives in your appartment complex, the person that stole it probably has been scoping out the truck long before it got stolen, waited for the perfect time to do it. Maybe its someone you know? Good Luck man.
Yea.. sucks man.. My truck was broken into only a month ago.. latino guy broke into a truck down the street.. couldnt get it started.. then broke into my truck and was in the process of just ****ing up eveything when mymom (getting ready for work at 4:00 in the morning) went out for a smoke and coffee saw the guy.. called the cops.. watched him threw the window, with the cops still on the phone... cops creeped up from boths sides of street.. walked up to my truck yelled freeze.. the guy takes off running but they tackled his ***.. anyways he caused at least $300 in damage and ALL day looking for parts.. ended up scoring at a Junk yard.. had to replace the ignition cylinder(100), ignition switch(175),and plastic drive shaft cover($75). NOT DONE YET!! the truck he broke into before mine.. he put his hand threw the window.. so he was loosing gallons of blood.. which from swinging the hammer in my truck WENT EVERYWHERE!! so a good shampoo job cost me 75.. THEN a week ago my mom ran off 2 black guys from breaking into my moms mustang and my truck... people just dont respect things that people have busted there *** for..
Hate to be the crumudgeon here, but, did you know that would- be theives paruse forums such as this? What they're looking for is a vehicle in their region where the forum member lists all of the wonderful things they have done to their vehicle; no matter what kind it is, they're out there. When they spot one that lists the carb, TB, lift, stereo, (well you get the idea)that they want; that makes their boost list. It's like a Christmas list of what they want...a shopping list so to speak. They're not interested in what condition the paint is in; if the glass is broken, etc. They want the strippables that can sell fast and net them a couple of thou. Then they dump the vehicle in a lake, or burn it, or whatever. A grim, harsh reality.
Other than tracking type alarms (i.e. LoJack) or notification alarms, theres not much you can do to stop them. If they don't drive it away, they tow them.
I guess some type of home made boot and/or an ignition lock/steering column boot would slow em down..maybe. Another option is a disabling device for the fuel or ignition. But these won't stop them if they tow it.
No real good way to wrap this up but to offer condolences. Stiff upper...and all that. Then move on and try not to get too attached to these things. Its just another comodity. Really.
