Oops I just read the first post. Glad to hear you're getting your truck back dude. Hope it's still in one piece.
If someone steals my truck they're not the only one going to jail. I'll kill them. I don't have a problem going back...
You just shoulnd't mess with a persons vehicle. They use to hang people for horse theft you know...

yeah I got a call around 11PM saying that they found it and I can pick it up tomorrow, the only thing they did to it was break the ignition, and my brother who works for dodge said it's $200 to replace so all is well, I just hope they caught that guy.

That's good to hear. I don't know if yours has it but mind has a chip in is down under the bottom of the pannel under the steering wheel that if you pull out it disconnects the fuel system and no one can hotwire it.

I had a beater Pontiac 6000 stolen from in front of the house one
yr. It was a crap-box of a car. Can't imagine why they would take
it other than for a ride home. Turns out that's all the thief wanted;
A ride home. Trouble is, the car would not go over 45mph. It would
bog-down, jerk like crazy if you tried to give it more gas. Well,
he tried to run from the cops in it,....... Try caught the ****-head.
Got the car back and all that was busted was the ignition switch.
(He used a paper-clip to start it). It wasn't worth the cost of a new one
so I drove the car for a year with the paper clip and traded it in for a new
car after that. Still had the paper-clip in there!

What they're looking for is a vehicle in their region where the forum member lists all of the wonderful things they have done to their vehicle; no matter what kind it is, they're out there. When they spot one that lists the carb, TB, lift, stereo, (well you get the idea)that they want; that makes their boost list. It's like a Christmas list of what they want...a shopping list so to speak. They're not interested in what condition the paint is in; if the glass is broken, etc. They want the strippables that can sell fast and net them a couple of thou. Then they dump the vehicle in a lake, or burn it, or whatever. A grim, harsh reality.
Other than tracking type alarms (i.e. LoJack) or notification alarms, theres not much you can do to stop them. If they don't drive it away, they tow them.
I guess some type of home made boot and/or an ignition lock/steering column boot would slow em down..maybe. Another option is a disabling device for the fuel or ignition. But these won't stop them if they tow it.
No real good way to wrap this up but to offer condolences. Stiff upper...and all that. Then move on and try not to get too attached to these things. Its just another comodity. Really.
