Changing pitman/idler arm
Ok to get the tie rod end off the pitman arm off- Get a bar and hold tension on the tie rod end, then hit the pitman arm with a decent size hammerwhere the tie rod goes through. AND AGAIN IF THAT DOES NOT WORK YOU MUST HEAT IT TO BREAK LOOSE. Sounds like you should just take it somewhere. Sorry it sounds like your a real newbie with no tools. you will be better off to take it somewhere after you count in the price of toolsfor your project
Yeah that's what I'm figuring. I spent the 3 weeks with ball joints, so I'm dedicated and all, but this seems pointless. Something as simple as removing and install a pitman arm should not take an entire day, to no avail.
To be honest, I don't think it was the pitman. But with what I did to it today and the fact I have a new one, I think replacing is best, lol.
Tire Kingdom said my BJ's were bad, pads were shot and that the arms and TRE needed to be replaced. (Funny they didnt say ANYTHING about the o2 sensor, lol) There was a lot of play in the front suspension though, but I think it's more from the TRE and BJ's. I replaced the ball joints already, and that did help.
Oh well, I can handle a 185 hit, and replace the TRE when i get the truck on the stands. Unless there's another catch to those. I had them off for the BJ's and they need to be replaced, just didn't have them on hand.
