Default Changing pitman/idler arm

Ok, I started on removing the pitman and idler arms, but to no avail.

I have the pitman puller kit from Advance, and one of the pullers is on there VERRRYY tight, but didn't pull the pitman all the way so it's stuck on there. Got too dark for me to continue, so I left it. Don't plan on driving tonight, but I do need to finnish this tomorrow afternoon.

I need some pointers because Haynes isn't helpful at all when it comes to pitman/idler arm's.

I think you will need to heat the arm up and beat on it with a hammer while the puller is on it, also the puller you have probably sucks and very cheap, loan a good one off a garage or buddy

if you dont have heat try hitting the puller on the head of the bolt this will sometimes work. and be careful with heat that you dont distoy the steering box seals.

and what do you use for heat? I'm thinking of putting it all back together and taking the arms to a shop, lol.

it expands the actual arm making it bigger than it actually is. hence making it easier to get off. Just think of it as a girl, if you do some foreplay it slips in better, why cause its warm making it expand

I got the pitman arm to move about 1/2 inch lower, but it's pretty tight after that. I need a deeper socket for the nuts on the idler arm.

If the puller breaks in two, it's a bad one. LOL. Seriously try spraying it with PB blaster and hitting the bolt on your puller with a good size hammer, she'll come off.
