I officially Hate my truck
I drove up to college today and its mostly all highway. I could not even keep up with traffic. the truck had to constantly down shift out of O/D. It feels like a big block of crap goin down the highway. My motor is good including the plenum, rebuilt tranny. I have no idea WTF is wrong. SO im thinkin about giving up. Anybody want to buy my truck?? 3,500 bucks and its yours
Hmm..well what exactly is cutting out that's making it a hog to get up to/sustain higher speeds? Do you run oversized tires? What gearing do you have? I know that when I'm getting on the highway I'm really patient letting my truck get to speeds on its own. IT can move easily, but sometimes if you hit it the wrong way it won't like you when you try to accellerate when it's already moving. I think theres a ton of guys that can help you out first if you let us know what exactly is cutting out, what exactly is happening, and what things do you have done to your truck currently that may be causing the problem.
I have 245/75/16 tires and 3.55 gears, that shouldnt be a problem. when i hit the gas it doesnt speed up unless your going downhill. all it does is downshift. It screams but goes nowhere. Im highly pissed off right now so any suggestions would really help. when i was coming home i held it to the floor hoping it would throw a damn rod through the oil pan, so i would have to get a new truck. Im not dissin on dodges but did they design these things not to cruise down the highway? I drove a 1999 Ford f250 gas job with 200,000 miles and it never kicked out of O/D even up hill.It ran down the highway like a bat out of hell
LMAO! I know EXACTLY that feeling, sometimes you just get so pissed you just ****ing floor it and you dont even care. Hmm...I wish I knew, but it's got to be something simple. I mean, you aren't running anything crazy on this truck, it's pretty much stock. Im sure one of the other guys here can help you out, but don't loose hope man, you have better chances of getting this fixed because you arent running like stupid oversize tires with small gears or anything. LEt the guys tell you what they think, and then see what it's going to take to make it so it will react to speeds. These dodges can do fine on the highway. I run big goofy stupid 35" tires with 4.10 gearing, and she can sustain 85+mph, it'll be cool though man!
I have a simmilar problem altough i dont do to much highway driving so its not that big of a deal. Ive heard that a bad throttle position sensor can cause that problem. Also what size exhaust are you running. If its two big you could be losing backpressure especily with a gutted cat. This might cause a loss in torque.
It could be that you cataytic convertier is plugged, i couldnt reach hiway sppeds when mine when

The only two time this happened to me was when an egr was going out, and when my fuel pump was going out. Fuel pump or throttle sensor.
BTW, my Dodge loves the highway and cruises like a dream. When I punch it, it won't stop the acceleration till I take my foot off.
Do you think it is starving for fuel? Oh well, if it refuses to start one day,but cranks and cranks, you will know it is the fuel pump.
Check yourplug wires too.
