I've filled up my tank twice since I fixed my idle problem and my gas mileage went up from barely getting 11 mpg up to just over 16 mpg. I couldn't believe it. I thought I forgot to rest the trip gage the first time. But the second time I did the math twice and was like Wooo Whooo!! That's money in the bank!!!! All I did was clean the Throtle body, IAC and replace the upstream O2 sensor.

I wonder if just the O2 sensor alone was the reason for the better overall MPG?
Not sure what the IAC does once you start to drive, but I know the O2 sensor controls the fuel mixture... right?
Did you clean your TB while it was still bolted, or removed?

Well, when I replaced my up-stream o2 sensor, the hard part was getting the damn wrench on it. After I got the wrench on it to stay, a couple good shoves, and it came right out. It's my understanding that there is some type of anti-sieze on the threads.There was on the new Bosch one I bought.
All in all, when you get the wrench on it, it should come out pretty easily...

Yeah I'm thinking that the O2 is the main reason for the improvement. I still had the original O2 sensor on it and with 160,000 mile I'm sure it was time to replace it. I took the TB, and IAC off when I cleaned them and made sure everything was clean. Mine was real dirty. This is what stopped the idle problem when my truck would die after a warm start up. The IAC was stuck and it wasn't closing or opening up all the way. I also reset the PCM when I cleaned the TB and IAC. That also could of had something to do with the idle problem going away. My MPG isn't as good as it was when I bought the truck but it's close. It use to get 17-18 MPG on the Highway which is 90 percent of my driving.
Oh yeah, the O2 came out with no problem. But I have a custom exhaust on my truck and the O2 is easier to get at then stock.
