Default Anyone looking for a locker?

Well, I just got my locker last week, and im already getting rid of it...

Its too "unstreetable" for me.
It is the richmond lock-rite. It works great and locks really nice, just dont use too thick of gear lube otherwise everyonce and a while it doesnt wanna lock.

Its great for someone looking for to offroad, or someone who doesnt mind the back end hopping around corners on the street. The traction is amazing! I love that part of it, this one is just not for me.

It has only been in my truck for a week, and I have not had any problems with it other than it just not being "for me". I dont plan on anyone buying it but ill give it a shot.

I payed $380 for it, like 400 somthing shipped so if someone wants it, make me an offer... im not going to pretty much give it away but the wear on it I wouldent even consider to be broken in yet... Pretty much a "tested" new one.

Im probably going to go the auburn lsd route, posibally detroit tru trac or waht ever it is called.

do you think it might improve with more break-in time ? i've got the noslip model, and it did take some 'getting used to' for me. i noticed a sort of pushy feeling in the rear end while going through normal curves, but i got used to it after a few weeks. the thing that never goes away is that when making 90* sharp turns, it wants to stay locked and do its job, which means keeping both wheels driving equally. when on dry pavement, its fine, as it will unlock and differentiate. but when wet, or slippery, or on grass, and there's not enough side friction/twist to unlock, it will spin the inside wheel in order for it to keep up with the outside wheel.

whats it doing ? is it not unlocking in a normal turn ?

Well its not designed to unlock around a corner when there is engine power going through it, its fine when im off the gas, or on it very lightly... then I really cant tell its there. Certain turns it will bind like no other, punch it from a dead stop around a corner, sometimes in a staight like and the back end of my truck will hop like no other just from all of the binding that is going on. The no slip model doesnt grab as much as mine does, which is proably why its fine for you.

I dont know, only way that I would goto say the no slip model is if richmond does somthnig for me (which i HIGHLY doubt) but say they really like to keep their customers happy.. if they would swap me out for a no slip (me obviously paying the differnce in price) even if it wasent 100% what I wanted I would be happy to have the richmond name you know... Im not getting my hopes up on that one, so I plan on just gettting an lsd which I know will work out better for me.

I was origonally going to get the no slip, I dont know why I got the lock rite.. I thought I was saving money... dumb choice on my part.

call them and ask. they might. they likely make the units for very little cost, and like all mfg's they probably get back a number of units from customers. some might be defective, some people order the wrong thing, some might be unsatisfied for whatever reason. they probably have a return, re-inspection, re-use process they use every day. try it - the worst thing that can happen is they say no.

Well now, im guessing that one of those little springs came out (or several) because now it refuses to lock unless im off the gas, stop in a straight line... other than that its just like an open diff in the snow.. just makes a lot more noise.

Im calling richmond tomarow... those springs better not have ****ed up my ring and pinion, or made their way down to the wheel bearings...

Hopefully they will do somthing for me.

I know 100% that those springs were in there as good as they could be, although it did worry me about those there really is no method of retaining them on one side unless mine is defective. I figured that there was enough engineering in the thing that there was no way that somthing liek that was overlooked... guess I was wrong.

burrying the speedo on ice may have somthing to do with it but still, its considered offroad and supposed to be tough it should be able to take that.

I've heard nothing but problems with lockrites in the 9.25
I was considering one for awhile but everything I've read was bad, so I'm holding out for a detroit locker.

I've yet to hear anything bad about the No-slip so if they'll replace yours with a no-slip I'd say go for it.

ya, to be honest I'm going to ask for that because its more feisable than them giving me my money back... I would expect to pay the difference between the 2, but I am not offering it.

I would rather just go with a lsd...

Question for someone with a NO SLIP, is it smooth when it en gauges? do you have wheel hop when you turn corners from it locking?

I really hope it didn't mess up the gears inside my diff... I'm sticking new gears in there soon, but still I don't want anything to be wrong with them as they are in perfect shape.

Yep your very right... to be honest I have NO idea why i went with a full locker... some how I dident think it would be that bad... Its funny becasue at first people were telling my to get a full locker and I would always explain why it is so dumb...

Oh well... it'll buff.

mine is very smooth. although i'm not quite following your wheel hop issue. the way mine works is that when driving straight, its locked. when i turn a corner, it silently unlocks and differentiates until you're going straight again. then it silently locks back up. there is no wheel hop. (is it possible that yours might not be unlocking like its supposed to)

the only things that i notice are these.

when shifting to Rev or Drive, there is more play/slop in the driveline there used to be. you can see this during the install as the unit sort of twists back and forth, due to the spring gaps where the pieces meet.

it will occasionally make a pop sound. at first it scared me and i called them about it. they said its normal and not to worry about it. so i don't.

when turning a corner on wet pavement or wet ground (low traction), it will remain locked and spin the inside wheel.
