Default fuel injector leak

Well I just got done fixing my plenum and I was putting everything back together when I noticed that when I would turn my key to the on position to let my fuel pump pressurize my system, two of my injectors were leaking. During the tear down I did not take them out. They are leaking at the top by the fuel rail. I took one out, cleaned it real good checked the o-ring which was still good andput the injector back, making sure it was seated right and put the retaining clip back. But it still leaks. Any suggestions? Should I replace the o-rings even if they werent damaged? I brought them in the house for a little bit to warm them up thinking it would make the rings softer but it didnt help either.

O-rings are cheap. I would recommend you replace all 16 of them. Be sure to lightly coat them with oil when you install them on the injector to prevent tearing.

Well I was able to fix my own problem. I put the injectors back in and put my heat gun on low and put it on them for about 20 seconds. I guess it helped seal the O-rings pretty good. It was about 30 degrees outside while I was doing this. Then I let them cool down for a couple min and started it up and no problems. thanks for the help.

The fuel system is the last thing you want to cut corners on, because only bad things will happen.

Bad things is right. I didn't have my o-rings go out, but my cross-over line between the rails developed a leak. 1 fire and over $2000 in repairs later my truck did get back on the road. Took a bit to fix all ofthe problems, but it's been running good for about 2 years.

Never try to save a penney when it comes to engine fluids. You are only inviting trouble. I replace my o-rings everytime I pull the rail.

I fully intend on replacing the o-rings however it is kinda hard to get to the parts store to get them if your truck doesnt run. But since it does now I have purchased the new rings and they will be going in tonight. And I know you all had pictures of Fire Marshall Bill in your head as soon as I mentioned heat gun and fuel rails in the same sentence. However it worked for the time being. Thanks for all the concern.
