Can i get a decent truck for 4300?
hello,
I am new to this site and I cant really say i own a dodge yet. But, if it was up to me i would be driving a dodge 1500 but i am 16 and my mom and dad are making me drive my 1993 ford mustang (a classic i know). And my mom made a deal i worked all summer and made 4300 and she said i can take that money out and buy a newer car since my 3 months of driving is up with my pos car.
I am from ohio. If you know any good trucks that i would relly want lifted and not low to the ground. please let me know
Thanks

take some time and save a little bit more. If you really LOVE dodge trucks, save about 6-8 K and get one with about 75-90K miles on it. I bought my truck lifted, MoparPerformance Chipand the tranny was replaced at 72k bought at 92k. The price was 9000 and I didn't even try to talk him down. Always talk down. You should be able to get a used vehicleat a price close to the TRADE IN VALUE, not theBlue Book Value. If you can get a price between the trade in and Blue Book, thats reasonable. My truck was less than blue book, so I didn't haggle. i am not a communist, just offer a fair price and I'll consider.
Wait for the right one...and there are abouta dozen right ones. As soon as you see atruck thatyou think is perfect, you see another 3 months down the road that blows the other one away. BE PATIENT

shop around hard. negotiate tough. try to find somebody thats going to trade one it, and they're not going to get $hit for it at the dealer. you can give em a little more than the dealer trade and you'll both be happy.
2 years ago i got an 01 with 120k for 6500. it had a few dings. you can find one if you look hard. look on autotrader.com (keyword= private seller), ebay, craigslist, at work, at your parents work, neighbors, school, etc. a guy at work recently sold a nice 97? for 3900. if you know anybody who knows anybody that has a dealer license, you might could get them to pick you up one at the dealer auction. expect to pay a commission, something like a couple hundred on top of the auction, probably plus tax. what's being sold is trade-ins to dealers - to other dealers. they sell dirt cheap, but you don't get to drive them, and its dealers only on the lot and at the sale. i've been to them a couple times and stayed outside the fence. my dealer buddy looked em over and drove a couple over to the fence where i could see it. i didn't find what i wanted, but it had a lot of potential.

A very good option for you to begin searching is on Craigslist. This link will get you to the Ohio site that lists all of the city sites in Ohio, http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/oh
There look to be a lot of Ram 1500's in your state that may work for you. Like the others say, look for the best deal possible, not just one that looks nice for you. You can always spend a couple hundred dollars here and there for your desired mods if it's in good shape otherwise.
Good luck and hope you the best.

im not sure if im a person that should be giving advice or anything like this because im only 15, but here in northern CA ive seen some nice 2nd gen4x4 rams with about 150,000 miles on them for about 4k to 5k. so if i were you i would look on craigslist like the others have said. hope you find a nice truck!
