I would assume the radiator cooler has a higher capacity, so I would think that that would be the best starting place...then a burst of cool from the aux before returning

Why do so many people say to get like a 32K GVW cooler? Seems like that could be a problem in winter driving situations... I know rabbler mentioned fluid gelling in the lines, and you also mentioned not to get it too cool... Just seems like a 6K lb truck towing around 4K doesn't need that much...[sm=bangbang.gif]

Thanks guys...

Gwub2005,

You have any idea how much they charge to install those? Just wondering... Sure it's not cheaper than doing it myself...
I am getting my tranny rebuilt soon, I asked about a cooler, and he said another $230 (parts and labor).

Waaay too much, considering the cooler kit only costs $30-$50 bucks, and it only takes 25 minutes to install [&:]

The reason so many people say to get a bigger one is because they are under the impression that cooler is better. Its not, lol. Its just like your engine, it still has to operate at a certain temperature, if the transmission is too cool it will not operate correctly.

He might not have been talking about a transmission oil cooler like we're talking about (the kind that you hang on your a/c condensor) He might have been refering to the kind that sit in your pan and are electric which would be more expensive. Although I didn't think they made those for our trucks. But I never really looked that hard for it.

If that was the case it may be a good deal. He could have also meant the type with a fan on it...those are more pricey, too. If it waseither of those, I would be tempted to go for it.
