ROYAL PURPLE AND HEADERS
two questions...... Royal Purple motor oil are there any benifits to buying the "RACE" oil as to the regular royal purple oil ,is it better for protection? and which headers? SHORTIES OR LONG TUBES??<-------- a lot of diff opinions on this one,[sm=bicker.gif] if you haveone or the other let me know.......all opinions are appreciated for the future decisions!!thanks[sm=americanasmiley.gif]

Split the difference and get mid length headers. Edelbrock and GSMotorsport each make a set.

I've read good things about Gibson. From what I've read I'd just stay away from Pacesetter. No need to get into a whole other argument about it though as we just went through this.
For the Royal Purple I don't know I use the regular Royal Purple as it's expensive enough at $7 a quart. I saw a show on TV where they did dyno tests with Royal Purple either Trucks or Horsepower TV I forgot which. They said to step up to the race version if you were spraying it.

I forgot which magazine it was, but I read a while back that by using the Royal Purple motor oil, the car in question gained 5-6 hp using the Royal Purple race oil. I believe it was a 4th gen F-body, but I'm not too sure.
HOWEVER, there was an analysis done on the Royal Purple race oil after the first couple of passes, and the oil was shown to have broken down after a couple of passes on the strip. They specifically recommend AGAINST using Royal Purple race grade motor oil in any street driving application as it will break down and lose viscosity rather quickly.
So, in short, standard Royal Purple is for the street; "race grade" Royal Purple is for the track. Bottom line.
