Get the cheapest ATF possible, transmissions arent that picky.
Maybe you're not familiar with 2nd gen rams
and deffinetly deffinetly make sue it's ATF+4
I am very familiar with 2nd gen rams, believe me, lol. I just dont buy into having to have all this special expensive transmission fluid. Just as an example, my father has a 98 1500 that he has put dexron/mercon in since day one, he put 175,000 on it before it started leaking out the front main and he just decided to get it rebuilt, although it still shifted fine. However, I definetly agree, ATF+4 should be the only thing you use in the transmission, but cheap ATF+4 shouldnt cause any damage.
175,000 miles eh? That would be fantastic. I'll agree with you on not needing overpriced name brand fluid so long as it is generally maintained (somethign your dad, and I'm sure you too, obviously know alot about). But for the guys who are going to do it once and never again it would behoove you a higherquality syntheic in there. Hell most of the poeple I know never change their transmission fluid then entire life of the car. Oh if only we could get away that...

Hell on the other hand there's people who never change the transmission fluid (or the people who owned the car before them never did) and they decide to change it with 100,000+ miles on it and it causes almost instant transmission failure. So it's a sticky situation.
