I have an Edelbrock ti-tech coated header on my Wrangler and I gotta say I love it. It replaced a cracked Banks header I had. I've had the Edelbrock header in for over a year now and it still looks brand new. the coating hasn't changed color, faded, cracked, or anything. I'd recommend it
Can we get a pic?

My goal is just better flow for a mildly modified engine at lower to mid throttle ranges.

so why are you getting shorties, lol.

Guys, I certainly appreciate your replies and experience. You both seem quite knowledgable. I will keep my options open for regular longtubes if the quality and price is right, but like I said at the beginning....I'm just asking about the usefulness and durability of coatings and materials right now. As far as why, I couldn't care less how they look. I'm in it for quality, price, ease of installation, and fun.

Please chill out with the long v. short argument.

edit: Btw, thanks to all who've replied so far and any in the future.

I've heard very mixed reviews on the Edelbrock Ti-Tech coating. Attached is a picture of the ti-tech headers shott had. I've seen some similar postings on other forums. Shott also had a nightmare of a time dealing with Edelbrock to get replacements.
I happen to have Edelbrock shorties too, but I have their other coating, called Silver Ceramic. My headers are almost 2 1/2 years old, and the coating is still in great shape. I image it will outlast the headers. I also hear good things about Jet Hot coating.

Thanks Silver. Just the kind of shot I was looking for. Do you have any idea how long those were on before that happened or what type of weather, like high salt area?

92GreenYJ, what kind of weather or use did yours go through for the year you've had them in, so far?

They were on for only 4 months. Here is his post about them:

Click on the link in my signature if you want to see pictures of my Silver Ceramic coated edelbrock headers (no closeups, but you can see them). Those pictures are from last year or so, but they look the same today. They were shiney almost like chrome when I first installed them, then they turned to the color you see in those pictures after just a few months, and have looked like that ever since.

An excellent read for my purposes. Looking for the results of the 2nd set going bad and Edelbrock's response. Looks like I'll be shying away from the Ti-Tech for now.

I'll do ya one better, how about a link to the article I wrote on the install for Petersen's 4Wheel and Offroad magazine. then I'll go take some current pics of them tomorow if its not still pouring out
http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/techart...all/index.html

for the record the Banks header in the first pic of the article was 2 years old when i took it out. Banks headers dont stay pretty for long.
