Default Ceramic, stainless, titanium....which one?

I'm planning on putting a set of short headers on. Looking at Edelbrock right now. I was wondering if anyone would care to comment on the different coatings. The Edelbrock Ti-tech coated ones have my interest, but I'd like to hear from some who have experience with the different coatings or materials.

Btw, I'm just doing minor engine upgrades, like new tb, electric fans for now and electronic ignition way down the line so no need for full length headers or the arguments they seem to spark.

Iv commented on this many times recently. Iv also commented on the diffrent coatings and their effectiveness. One thing I will reiterate is no matter how much work your planning longtubes will always be better overall. You may get single didgit more power as a PEAK for shorties, but thats all they are...peakey. Longtubes create a broad power increase especially for torque.

I have stainless shorties. I like them but make sure you get a good set or they will not stay stainless(color) long. I will eventually go long tube myself.

I do not doubt their effectiveness and I have read some comments on ceramic coatings, how/why headers rust, and the dreaded long-tube v. short and who knows what about exhaust and who doesn't arguments, recently(which is 20 minutes of my life I won't get back). My goal is just better flow for a mildly modified engine at lower to mid throttle ranges.

Right now, I'm just interested in coatings and finishes. Is stainless worth it? Is this Ti-Tech coating Edelbrock has better or worse than ceramic in real application? I've read the websites and their claims. Just looking for real world experiences.

I like stainless steel myself. Although it kind of "blues" after awhile.

That is the problem I ran into. I bought a little bit cheaper set, they have actually turned a very dark blue almost black, and I will never go cheap again. I do not know if my mods have had a part to play in that though. Fastman 50mm, shaker(direct flow)air intake, platinum plugs, high octane program. We will see with the next set.

I don't know if this helps (or even applies), but the best exhaust you can buy for a dirtbike (supermoto in my case) is a titanium exhaust. Much of that due to the weight savings though (much more noticable on bikes). However, if you are looking to keep a good chrome-like color, titanium is not the way. It'll turn blue w/in the first week. I don't know if this is even related to what Edelbrock calls their ti-tech coating or not, but I thought I would chime that in.

I guess I'm just useless anyway, because I can't comment on the durability either because my bike gets thoroughly cleaned after each raceday.

Edelbrock TES headers. THe only ones you can get for a 2nd gen dodge are the stainless steel with the ceramic coating. Mine look like new still. I had some rust spotting that looked like small freckles, but it rubbed right off with some steel wool and minimal effort. I think the rust was from the heads and got onto the headers, because there is no sign rust eas ever there. YOu really had to look closely to see the spots. And I also lived in Upatate NY for 4 years with them...so the salt may have played a factor.

THe TES headers will cost 485 bucks and are really easy to install. No y pipe because they are 50 state legal. all you need is a sawzall to cut the 2 intake pipes from the cat and then you just bolt the headers on. You will need to weld the header tubes to the cat though. I don't weld so I brought mine in.

Change your O2 sensors as well. when you get that done.

I have an Edelbrock ti-tech coated header on my Wrangler and I gotta say I love it. It replaced a cracked Banks header I had. I've had the Edelbrock header in for over a year now and it still looks brand new. the coating hasn't changed color, faded, cracked, or anything. I'd recommend it

If they offer a ceramic coated titatium do that. That will last FOREVER, it's some heavy *** duty ****. My brother has a set of Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers, man those are pretty much the best quality headers you can get out there. That will outlast any header, and never rust.
