Cleaning Engine parts
Like many of yall here, I am doing plenum work and have most of my engine taken apart. I noticed most of my parts are really grimey.
I was wondering If I could have the aluminum parts maybe cleaned at a shop. Has anyone ever done this? I figure they could blast the parts. I would like the Intake manifold, A?C compressor bracket, power steering bracket and any other bare aluminum part to look as new as the water pump and tensioner. Maybe even better. I just ordered some sweet black mopar valve covers to boot.
So really I just wanted to know how best to go about cleaning this thing up. My biggest fear is getting something inside the engine. (yes I plugged it up) I may also paint the block and if I go that route I may just paint all the parts, I haven't seen a painted intake manifold yet.

RE: Cleaning Engine parts
get all the parts steemed with a steem jenny, power washer with hot water, takes grease off instantly. I know there hard to come by but if your buddy or the place you work has one, use it
Also when sandblasting aluminum you have to be carefull not to over do it, you can screw up the tolerances

RE: Cleaning Engine parts
Are there places I could go to just drop the part off and have it all done? I like the idea of getting a parts washer I always wanted one, but I am at a lack of space right now. I have a threee car garage filled with junk that I can't get out because stupid FEMA won't come get this damn trailer which is blocking my whole back yard. I am doing my tear down in my front driveway. Ghetto I know, but hey its Nawlin's.
I was just wondering about how much one should expect to pay for such cleaning services. I have a bucket of mineral spirits already, I was just gonna kind of clean it with that and drop the parts off somewhere.
