what is the keg mod
I have a 99 and don't have a time limit on how long I can keep it out. I was doiing the Plenum fix with the Aluminum plate or planing to (haven't got it in yet). Anyway I have been looking up on this mod. What can go wrong? Is something that comes to mind, can't you mess something up real bad? It looks easy enough with a cut-off tool and a small grinder. I think I am gonna try it, but will wait for your DIY.
You could drop it or something and break your intake I suppose. You could accidentally ding up the mounting surface if you don't watch your tools closely. I think those are the main issues that could go wrong. Otherwise, it is pretty easy in my opinion.
I think he was reffering to cutting the runners down too far.
BTW that is a nice shiny intake manifold you got there Silver. If it's a backup why don't you take the time to paint it? Especially with your shiny engine bay (which I'll tell you I scrubbed the **** out of my engine bay with urethane cleaner and I still can't get it too look quite as nice as yours) and fancy valve covers and everything. I think you should paint it blue.

Here are pictures of my Kegger Mod. I made a 1 inch cut from the highest point in the runner. I have a before, during, and after shot. By the time I got done rounding edges and cleaning things up I was just too f'n annoyed to take pictures. But anyway this is what I've got.....

Silver,
I see you decided to slash cut it up the side toward the TB after all, please let us know how you feel that affects it.
If you get bored, cut down the one currently in your truck to the normal 1 1/2" flat off and reinstall to compare and contrast the gains.

Have you tried it?
From what i've read from everyone except IndyRamMan, it is definetly worth it. It also is not really hard at all. I think i'll have it complete in less the 5 hours of total labor on the intake itself. If you already have it off to do the plenum repair, that is not much time to add at all for a free performance mod. Or do like I did, and pick up a spare intake that you can work on at your leisure. I paid $25 for mine.

All you do is cut down the runners and the divider. It's not really worth the hassle unless you're already going to have your intake off for something else (plenum gaket repair, headgasket repair, rockers, etc.)

cerial killer... I just used high heat engine paint 500* (hemi orange)
I got the centre divider cut out tonight. It took about 20 minutes to get the bulk of it out, and about 2 hours to smooth it up with the cutting wheels. So thats about 3 hours last night, and 3 hours tonight. I also buffed it up on the outside to make it nice and shiney, and did some other stuff that i'll talk more about in the DIY when I get it posted.
aim4squirrels, ya, I decided to do the slash cut. I think mostly because I thought it would promote smoother air flow into the runners (lsmoother angle for the air to have to turn to get into the runner), and it looked like it would simplify the cuts. Who knows. Unless I was dyno testing intake after intake, i'll never really know if one way is better then any other. All i'm trying to prove with it is whether my modded kegger is better then my stock kegger. I'm going to keep my intake that is currently on the truck in case this one doesn't work good. If it works good though, I might just take the intake that is on my truck, mod it, and sell it on the forum if someone wants it (save someone several hours of work).
