is a cold air intake really worth spending money on??

I say it is. Especially if you shop around long enough and be patient, you can get a really good one for a good price. I just got a Volant, for example, usually priced around $350+ for just a tad over $250. Managed to catch a sale.

Others on here have had just as much luck (if not more) with a simple 14x3 inch open element intake. I had a K&N open element intake on my 1995 Dakota, and it worked very well.

If you use the search link at the top of the page, you can see this topic has come up many times. I advise reading the previous threads discussing this, and that should give you 10x the information you need.

EDIT: Whether you go the 14x3 route or the CAI route, both are better than your stock box.

I'm still not convinced that the gains are worth the $200+ you pay for an intake...

No matter what intake you go with, its going to greatly increase your acceleration. You won't notice much (if any) MPG increase, and maybe not a whole lot of HP or Torque gain, but you will notice the acceleration.

It especially works well with a Fastman TB. After the Volant and dual exhaust (hopefully all happening next week), thats my next purchase.

well i found a steal for a CAI for only $53!! so i figured i would buy it and see what it does and was wondering what yall thought about it and if yall thought that it would help any
