Tell me about the hemi

uggg... nvm... i'm not gonna argue... i guess even when people openly respect your vehicle and what you have done you will remain to stubborn to respect others..
I'm no racer or engine builder, but I've driven and/or owned several different 1st thru 3rd gen rams on a regular basis. I can honestly say I was completely UNDERwhelmed with the hemi in my 2004. They have good power and all out of the box, no denying that. I just think they are way over-hyped. I'd take a V-10 over a hemi any day. The Cummins is nice, too, but I smell enough diesel exhaust during a day as it is without driving it home.
I'm a little bitter about the 2004 Ram I had, though, cause I got a bad one with the Hemi-tick and the dealer never would fix it. I told them I'd never buy a new one again, like they gave a damn.

It sounds like Indy was trying to say that people who bought the hemi trucks just paid dodge to do all the work fortheir powerful truck.I could be wrong. With great power comes agreat big car payment.
Well you also get a newer nicer truck, One day 2nd gens, 3rd gens, and even 4th gens will be extinct. So who gives a crap, when im 70 years old i'll say what the hell is a hemi, I have a v16 under the hood of my 15th gen ram and that will blow away any 360 or HEMI
Hemi over hyped? No kidding. Call it marketing genius.
I think marketing the Hemi is probably in the top 4 smartest things Chrysler has done in the last 25 years. The others would be the Caravan, redesigning the ram in 04 and buying AMC/JEEP.
Indy...Don't be hatin' just cause your truck burnt down [:@]

I like both the magnum and the hemi trucks. I think they are very different though, and both have pros and cons. For me, I love my 2nd generation ram. It's like a giant 4 wheeler. It has a ton of towing power, jeep like offroadabilty, very tough, versatile, athletic, and physically attractive. Some cons of the magnum/2nd gen. rams is lack of total horsepower, mpg's, poor interior quality, and a little immature looking. I think the hemi brings something new to the table. They look a little more classy, have a ton of horsepower, very sleak and mature looking, beautiful interiors and family oriented, and they look great with those stock 20" rims or whatever it is. Some cons of the hemis are they lack that offroad touch dodge has always had with their 2nd rams, oversized snouts, not as athletic as the 2nd generation, and a little soft looking at times. Overall though I love both of them. The interiors and driveabilty/dependabilty of the new hemis really appeal to me. And the looks and toughness/off road capabilties of a 2nd ram with that beasty 360 small block is just unbeatable, plus they are really fun to drive if you have them all lifted up and modded out. Either way....I wouldn't kick either truck styles/engines out of bed
I know what you mean with chincy, some things look like that cheap material, but I don't think they are prone to cracking like ours. I just like the looks of the interior on them 3rd gens. Look very cozy, and the radio set-up/dash looks classy, and you got to like the white gauge faces in the dash. I like my 2nd gen. interior, if I had owned it new it'd be perfect, but it has a couple rough spots from the previous owner. I also am not crazy for the checkered chuck norris seats lmao, but I aint hatin![8D]

I actually prefer the interior of the second gen to the 3rd gen. The new interiors are kind of chinsey looking.

The 5.7 Hemi is not a true Hemi, all a marketing scheme like mentioned before. Can i say anything bad about them? No.They generate 100 more HP and more torque than a 5.9. I thinkHankLhad some dyno sheets awhile back that showed a comparison between the two and the 5.9 actually got more power to the wheels in lower RPM ranges than thehemi...can't find the thread but somebody correctme if im wrong or gimme a +1. Ive driven both, the hemi is quicker i guess, butif i wanted speed i would not be driving a 4x4 dodge ram
. The 5.9 is more of a "work truck" motor while the5.7 is more of a "daily commuter" motor. IF one had to choose between the two the question would be WHAT am i going to use the truck for. For most people out the the 5.7 would be the best fit.
I have the older style interior (96) so I don't have the checkered chuck norris seats, and I could be wrong but I don't think I have the style of dash that cracks. Maybe i'm just lucky though. I love the big bench seat though. Wouldn't trade it for buckets for any reason. They're really really comfortable too. Feels like a big recliner. I actually dig the interiors in the new Sierras.
