Default Need opinions! Bring it!-UPDATE

Check this out and tell me if you think it's a good deal... I know it isn't going to add 10 hp or anything, but it would be better than the stock air box, and it comes with a K&N filter which eliminates buying a cheapo and having to get a good filter for it. It isn't very specific on the engine sizes...think it'll fit my '01 5.9L???

Seems pretty reasonable...

If it was $25-$50, maybe. But $100? In my opinion, I'd wait for it on eBay again. $100 is to expensive for that intake. Might as well buy one of the cheapos on eBay for under $50, and then go down to your auto parts store and buy a K&N round cone filter that fits it. You'd be out less $$$.

I'd keep an eye on eBay. I saw that exact kit on there the other day for much less. Did a search just now, couldn't find it, but if you want to save the $$$ for it, just wait. It'll show up on there again.

I agree for that price you could get this and a K&N round filter:

Then you would have something very similar to this:

But alot less.

Ya know I love my K&N FIPK but if I was gonna go cheap I'd get one of those round filters guys have been putting on. I think the thread was something like k&n fipk no more, or something. I wouldn't put a hundred bucks into that one. my 2 cents

I ended up ordering this one:
http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/opr950131p.html

Now keep in mind, I am not looking for some wow! type mod...only something relatively inexpensive that will out perform the stock box.

I figure by the time I pay $40-$50 for one (with a heat shield) on Ebay, then another $20 for shipping, then another $50 for a K&N filter...I am spending $100+ anyway. Why not just buy one for $137 with free shipping and call it good. I feel certain the one I ordered has a good enough filter to start with anyhow. I am also going to wrap the pipe in thermo tec tape and try to fashion a lid for the top of the box.

Thanks for everyone's input on this. My budget was actually less than whatI spent[], so I had to get what I could. Under different circumstances, I would have probably gotten a Volant or FIPK.

Be careful ordering cheap CAI's i ordered one off ebay that was suppose to fit my truck and it didnt, ended up buying a AEM brute force intake and love it but all depends on what you want to spend something like the AEM is 250$ which is not for everyones budget. For me when it comes to my truck price is not an option.

How much do you thinkkeeping thatair a few degreescooler is going to help when ithits your intake that is already a few hundred degrees inside? It's a keg and it sits in there... but do whatever makes you feel better.

I realizethat, and that's not the point of getting this intake. The point is to have something with better flow and operation than the stock box.
