Thanks, good description. Scan and post the instructions from APS when can, sooner rather than later if you can. So your APS kit came with the updated Mopar thin metal gasket too (anyone with the APS kit can answer)?

Yes, mine did. I had bought the Felpro kit seperate when I thought the APS kit was missing the side gaskets (turns out it wasn't though), so I actually had both gaskets on hand.

Silver -

Can you clarify something for me? Did you say you used RTV (Ultra Copper) between the intake/gasket/new aluminum pan and that was per the APS directions? This is in addition to the RTV that you put in the corners where the heads meet the block? I just received my Hughes plenum pan but I bought the plenum gasket/head-to-plenum gaskets/intake bolts from Fel-Pro. The Hughes pan came with new bolts and a metallic paper-thin plenum gasket with their new aluminum pan and the instructions do not say anything about RTV on the plenum pan-to-intake connection.

Can you elaborate? Can you post a scan of the APS instructions? Thanks.
You only need to rtv the spot where the head meets the block & intake on the ends of the intake manifold (4 spots) and it does not need to be alot either. you need enough rtv so that all of the surfaces seal when the 3 of them are coming together. IIRC, the metal/ruberized gasket I used had an angle on it that matched the heads angle, right under that area is where you want the rtv.

you do not need to rtv the plenum gasket, make sure you use new bolts and they have loctite on them (should already have it on them if you got them from the dealer). do not over tighten them and torque them in the sequence indicated in the steps indicated.

IIRC the DIY writeup linked at the top has a link to the dealer instructions, have a look at those as well.

Also, there is a felpro gasket that looks kind of like a hybrid type of gasket... metal insides with another gasket material on the outside. much thicker than the stock revised mopar gasket. I used it on my last 2 plenum updates and neither of them leaked.

So should I try and get that or just use the one coming with the APS kit? Also any ideas on where to get that Ultra copper rtv?
Thanks.

Does it say ultra copper? I had a hard time finding it. I looked at Wal-Mart and Napa and neither had one that said it but they had lots of regular RTV.

on the felpro... look at the one that comes in the kit vs the felpro gasket and make your choice... the felpro one I'm referring to is NOT paper... some sort of metal hybrid of some sort.
