tisk , tisk..... ill watch and see where this goes.. im still putting an M1 on...
if your still thinking of running any of those cam profiles we were talking about a while back I would. The 5.2 revs a little quicker so it helps put you up in the m1s prime opperating range quicker. IDEALY youd want to put a higher stall in there as well, but you dont have to.

Yeah it kills me. There's probably at least one new topic a day about gas mileage, and they're all the same.

"Hey guys, I just bought a 2nd genDodge Ram. A vehicle made when gas cost $1.10 a gallon! It's got the most stock ground clearance of any pickup truck put into production since the 70's, and it's got a5.9V8.The only problem is it only gets like 14mpg and gascosts$3.00 a gallon! What am I going to do? Certainly I didn't think this through at all before I bought it. I mean why wouldI? Who would possibly think that a5,000 pound truck woulnd't get the same mileage as my wife's (sister's, brothers's, dad's, friend's, mom's, cousin's,person I work with's)scion..."

Than much is always about the same then... there's a couple of optional endings...

a.) "Isaw on ebay there's a chip that will make my truck get25mpg. Does it work"
b.) "Will a K&N cold air intake get me better gas mileage"
c.) "The truck is lifted6 inches with35" mud tires on it and3.55 gears. Would putting smaller tires on get me better gas mileage?"
d.) "I heard about this fuel addative that will give me5 more mpg. Does it work?"

got a part number on that m1 intake?IF its the single plane one im thinking of, that intake would be a horrible waste of 650 dollars on a stock setup. the torque you'd lose would betremendous and the top end power you'dhave wouldnt be worth it AT ALL.you'd need, at the very least, a moderate cam...heads would help a lot too.. but check that part number for me

I appreciate the comments that guys like zddp8868 and IndyRamMan come on here with. No one is questioning that you aren't knowledgable. It is obvious that you are. But the problem is, all you really seem to do is demostrate your singlemindedness at the same time. You fail to realize that I'm not interested in making an indy wanna-be truck or an R/T clone or a quarter mile runner. What I do to my engine is exactly what I want to do to my engine. Not because I don't know any better, but because I'm making a truck that performs the way I want it to perform on a budget I can feel good about while still affording me the ability to get my hands greasy from time to time. Balance all that with desire for decent longevity, acceptable gas mileage, looks, streetability, and usability, and then you might start to see why the majority of people on these forums do the mods they do and not necessarily the things you suggest.

Not everyone is wanting to build the power machines you must think we are wanting to build. That's your desire, not necessarily ours. You don't know how I use my truck, so don't pretend you know what mods are good for me. I'm happy to hear your suggestions, as they are always right on. But I don't really need you pounding in the same topic over and over again. I got it the first time. I'm looking for more then just that. You questioned why you and Indy are the only ones in the cam threads and exhaust threads? True, but where are you in the lift threads, trans threads, cargo/bed threads, winter driving threads, tire selection threads, interior mod threads, and any of the hundreds of other non-cam/exhaust related threads that i'm in. See the singlemindedness now. It just shows that you don't really know what my truck is about.

For some like Indy, these trucks are just a performance toy, which is cool. And he has built a sweet *** truck. For many others, these are just daily drivers, tow vehicles, work trucks, kid haulers, grocerery getters, etc. For yet others like me, doing mods and working on my truck is just a hobby. Performance engine upgrades are just one small aspect of that hobby. I've done mods from bumper to bumper on my truck. Had I instead invested all that coin in just engine performance, i'd have a blown 408 by now and would be knocking on Indy's door for a race. But that's not my interest, and that is what you seem to forget. I've done the performance thing in my past, inlcuding cammers and strokers, all built by me. Hell, 2 years ago I might have considered doing a cam, performance heads, or even a supercharger in my truck (actually, I still have the sales brochures I sent for online from Procharger laying around my office somewhere). But then my daughter was born. Prorities change my friend.

For me now, my truck is just a fun hobby. Something to do on the weekends. I enjoy testing stuff. Why else would I have tried 6 different air cleaner designs, or 3 different lift combos, or 3 different trans cooler setups, and many many other things. Now it just happens that right now modded kegger-vs-stock kegger is what i'm testing out, not because I think it will give me 50hp gain, but because i'm curious to try something new, gain or loss. This is what it seems you have a hard time understanding. So thanks for your opinion, and keep them coming. Just know that we hear you the first time, and we get it. Don't get upset if I tune you out until you have something new to contribute.

In the mean time, lets get back to the topic at hand for this DIY- modded keggers. That's what this DIY is all about, so lets keep the discussion to that. We can always start a new cam thread, or dare I say, a new exhasut thread.

Nothing new to say other then what I've already mentioned, and what xskylinedx also seemed to confirm. I should have a gas mileage update for you in a couple of days. I'm comparing it to the mileage I got before the plenum went out, not the recent 8mpg i've been rocking. This tank consists of my usual drives to work and around town stuff, so I have a very good idea what those averages used to be. That will be followed by one of my regular trips to the inlaws that entails 250 miles of flat highway. I used to get in the 16's on that drive, so this will be interesting to see if that improves or declines any.

xskylinedx or cereal, did either of you notice any mpg changes with your modded keggers?
