Why are intakes so expensive on these trucks? You flip through a Jegs or Summit catalog, and you see intakes out the wazoo for small block chevys and others, and the prices are much more reasonable.
i guess it would be the whole supply and demand deal... there are actually a few intakes for you if you are willing to convert to a carburetor... if not, you'll have to settle for the handful that are mass produced. don't forget, you can always fabricate your own out of sheet metal!

xskylinedx or cereal, did either of you notice any mpg changes with your modded keggers?
I wasn't really looking for it, but now that you mention it I do seem to get pretty good mileage from what I read on here. Seems most people are getting around 12-13 I get upwards of 15 sometimes 16

My mileage from this last tank was up just about 2 mpg. Probably mostly due to fixing the plenum leak. That was mostly city driving too, and i've been on it pretty hard with the new found performance from the modded kegger. I'm expecting an even better gain for highway miles, will post those results soon.

I haven't realy seen it mentioned before, but I found a 3" air cut-off tool and my 4-1/2" 18v dewalt angle grinder made it alot faster and easier than the sawsall. I tried that at first then figured it was too awkward.

I finished with a drill bit rasp set that I got at Harbor Freight for $5. Then got it smooth with a hand file. It is smoother that it was before I started so I thank it will be fine.
I took pics and will put them up I just need to find my USB wire for my camera, the dang thing takes a funny USB. Then its an xd card so I can't just put it in the computer.

I was trying to write up a few DIYs, and a how to easily remove the top starter bolt diy. Because that was the hardest thing so far, lol.

I also am putting toghter a rear view camera diy which would definetly help yall with high trucks. Total cost is now under $100.

I dont mean to change the subject, but I want to say thank you to Silver_Dodge for putting this DIY thread up. I just got my truck back together last night, modded the kegger and I used this thread as a guideline. Everything worked perfect, I took it for a spin and I noticed a difference but I couldnt really put my foot in it due to a little snow and ice..... The only thing I did different was I painted the intake black and used a dremel tool to polish all the numbers (Firing order, cylinder numbers etc.) I took a couple pics but I havent figured out how to post them yet. Everything looks great and I cant wait until they get the roads cleared off a little better so I can really really test it out.
Thanks for the help!!

I used a 4" angle grinder as well. I'm a master at using a recirpocating saw (sawzall), but I don't see how people use that.

No problem, that's what this forum is all about. Maybe others will do some DIY on other topics. We have a good list so far, but could always use more.
