Default 1 minute of programming costs $110?

I got an estimate froma Dodge dealership for a pcm flash. He stated to calibrate the tires (225's to 245's)to the speedometer costs $110 and takes a minute. This seems excessive and fraudulant. Does it have to get calibrated at the dealership?

Depending on what year it is you might be able to get a tuner used for a little bit more than that. But at least you'll own it.

For just going from 225 to 245s I wouldn't spend $110 to get your speedometer reset. Your speedometer is only off by like 5mph at 60. That's not too hard to remember.

I've had mine done twice, and both time they charge me $35 (basically 1/2 hour of labor).

I'd consider going to a different dealer. You're getting ripped a new one if you spend that.

Yeah that sounds expensive. I bought a Hypertech for $160 on here and I own it so can calculate my tires again for free if I go to a different size later on. I also can do other stuff too. What year is your truck? There is a guy over at Pavementsucks.com trying to sell a programmer for a 2000.

WOW go somewhere else. I had a dealership do a reprogram to eliminate torque converter lockup in 3rd gear and it only cost me $35.

Its not a flash, but is a change to the pinion factor. That is excessive. I do it for my customers for free.. A realistic price is more like $20-$30 tops....

No I don't think so. They have different part numbers. I was seriously considering ordering a new one and lucked out and found a used one on here for cheap that was for the 01's. Just keep looking and hopefully you will be able to find one.

I got my superchips from Cabela's new for 200 bucks. I'd spend the extra money to buy that before giving it to a dealer.
