I don't use a filter box because the open element net me a 2 mpg increase and increased performance. If i had my box on...My engine would have been toast. The element was UN OILED foam and it just desintegrated. A box would have melted all over my engine. "Lucky" me.

But I got a wiring harness, but its from a 2wd. However, there is a connector that goes to the tranny. I don't know if there is a sensor that goes to the transfer case. I have a 1996, and the 4x4 is a manual shift.

same filter as me....there is NO remenants of that foam lol. I remember on my old monte carlo i had one and the son of a gun had two holes over the secondaries from backfires. That thing doesnt take well to fire.

After seeing the pics of the fires you two had, I guess mine wasn't all that bad. However, even a little fire is not fun to repair the damage from. Good luck with getting back on the road.

If it wasn't for that Jet Chip that I was running at the time of the fire, I would have fried my PCM. The Chip took all of the damage from the shorted wires. My fire happened about 2 1/2 years ago and all is well now.

I think these fires have something to do with our truck being the same color Blue. Actually it's a Ford and Chevy conspiracy to keep us off the road.
