Default Headlight replacement

The headlights on my 96 1500 are getting really yellow and one of them has a crack in it and i cant keep a bulb in it because it keeps going out because of the moisture. I am going to order some headlights off of e-bay. Anyone replaced the headlights before? Are they difficult to install? Should I go with the factory headlights or try to go with some clear headlights?

i had to replace mine, went factory again, .. they aren't hard to get out, but the headlight assembly was a pain to put back in..
if you have a pushbar, it makes it that much more difficult.

In regards to the headlight assembly replacement: I ended up loosing up one side of the bumper assy and wedging the mounting bracket in, then crammed the light in, breaking off one of the tabs.
There has to be an easier way besides taking off the whole bumper.
How did you guys do it ??

I bought the aftermarket clears (not projectors or fancy LEDs, to ricer-ish for my blood) and I love them. Check out the cardomain link in my sig to see them on my truck.

If you get aftermarket clears like mine (or the black ones, which are similar), you won't use the bracket your current headlights/sidemarkers use. These aftermarkets are a true "one piece" headlight assembly, they were far easier to install than I expected. You remove the headlights, sidemarkers, and then the bracket, and put these in. They screw in exactly like the bracket did, and are much brighter (even with standard bulbs).

Go with whatever style you think you would like best, in the end it boils down to personal preference.

Did you loosen the bumper or how did you get them in ? The aftermarket one I bought came as a 1 piece unit ?

I managed to wedge them in there at an angle, keeping the tabs away from anything that could break them off. The headlights themselves are heavy duty plastic, they will bend/give a little and allow you to squeeze them in there. At least, mine did anyway. Just watch those tabs.

EDIT: No, I did not loosen the bumper.

i just replaced mine.. with halo projectors.. love em.. and i got them in w/o loosening the bumper.. took some ease.. and it fits tight when you first get them in.. but put the bottomin first.. then you have to wedge the top in .. its tight.. but it will go.. its only 3 10mm bolts to take them out

If you don't mind my asking...what did you pay? I found a nice set of 1 piece clears from lmctruck.com for $200.

Sorry for the jack there Backwoodz...[8D]

I paid about $130 shipped (around $85 for the lights, $45 or so for shipping). I know the shipping is a rip off, like it is so many times on eBay, but they were still cheaper than anywhere else I could find.

EDIT: They are exactly like these.
