Finally a Fun Story to Tell
Today, after 3 long weeks, my brothers 1995 F-350 was finally finished. Over three weeks ago, my brother and I took his manifolds off to put his headers on, only to find there was a chip in the casting of his head. So the truck was going to need some major work done. We dropped it with a shop. In brief, we went ahead and had the truck completely overhauled. Both heads were taken off and sent to a machine shop. The chipped head was repaird, and then both were replaned. Then, while the giant 460 was all opened up, we decided it was now or never to do some extra things. We had a camshaft, a double rolling chain, and new lifters put on the truck. We also replaced the water pump, and bought a new timing chain and set it for high octane fuel. Then after all of this was done, the doug thorley tri-y headers were installed and connected into his true dual. SO FINALLY, we got her back. And boy, the once inefficient 460 is no more, does she go!! We are talking about a f-350 with a 7.5L gasser here, and the truck will go sideways when you stomp on it and act like your on ice, it's really really nuts, and im very happy for my brother....BUT as always, we wanted to LINE THEM UP. So I got the good ole dodge started up. Keep in mind I don't have near as many mods done as him, all I have are longtube headers wih the offroad y-pipe, and a complete exhaust system with a gutted cat, THATS IT....for now. So we hit a street and we lined them up baby. And sure enough, DEAD EVEN. A car started coming at him in the other lane, so I had to slow down, but we were even up to 75mph, very impressive on the dodges end. Then, we switched vehicles so we could watch our whips. And man, I was just stunned. My truck is SO LOUD! He went flying by me and it just was so deep, sounds just like a mustang, that fricken flowmaster is amazing. It just deadened the truck when he went by me. He was just going sideways everywhere with my truck, it's incredible. When we got home, he said to me, jeez man, ive never really given this tihng much credit, but i actually hit it tonight, and its insane. Hes like its got so much more torque than my truck, and it peels out like nothing, even with those giant tires. So I'm very impressed with my truck, it's still relatively stock with 35" tires, and I'm still holding my own with an offroad truck against a monster street truck, I love this dodge! I cannot wait to keep modding this ****er out, thing is a BEAST!
HAHA no I gotta stooop!! I want the volant and the fastman and then be done performance wise for awhile, I need money lol. But basically the way my brother got his camshaft is the way I want to do mine, ya know..when I HAVE to be in there anyways. So maybe when I need new headgaskets, thats when I'll get a nice thumpy camshaft in there etc. etc. But for now, she's still holding her own, and I hope the air intake/throttle body combo will make it extra nuts, love these damn dodges, they are very versatile.
"Eh, it's not very pretty. About 8.5mpg. But when I'm being tame I can get her into the mid to high 9s, but that's about it lol. I just love it though. I think when I replace the mud tires with some procomp all-terrains later down the road, it may help. The mud tires are very sticky on the streets, and paralyzes the vehicle on the highway.

9 mpg!!?!?!! That's pretty good. My truck got about 7 mpg when my cat got blown out. However, if I were you, I'd either get a O2 sensor simulator or some highflow cats to boost your mileage. You can get at least 5 more miles to the gallon or more if you do one or the other. Check out the thunderbolt catalytic converters on this site. I got 2 for about 70 bucks and they are high flow.

Holy cow I thought my 12.5mpg was bad.
I'm not trying to say you are lying but saying he was going sideways everywhere sounds far fetched to me. I own a pretty much idential ram to you stock wise then have smaller tires. I don't have the headers but have a programmer, air hat, and a few other things like MSD plug wires and my truck will not go sideways all over the place. I've yet to see a stock to slightly modded one that will. My truck will spin the tires off the line with just throttle and will powerbrake but powerbraking is the only way to get it sideways. It just doesn't go sideways when I put the pedal to the floor like you make it sound.

And if you'd fix your plenum gasket, and compensate for the fact that you have bigger tire you'd probably get better gas mileage. Didn't you just get new 02 sensors?
