Default No Plenum Repair For Me

I have decided not to go with a plenum repair kit. Instead, I am going to say goodbye to the whole plenum design and plate, etc... I'm going with this instead:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku

I think this will pay off performance wise, as well as eliminating the possibility of a reoccurring plenum leak (although the chance is small). It will get the air into the engine without sitting in a plenum, which means it will be cooler. Cooler air = better performance.

That's the M1 intake. Do a search for M1, and you'll see why it is not often done. Word is, you'll lose a bunch of low end torque if your truck is stock or near stock. There are ways around this though. It is definetly the way to go once you are setup right. Check out KRC, Hughes, Southeast R/T, etc, and look at the high performance 360's and 408's they build. All are running the M1 intake or similar. I'm sure i'll have one some day, but i'm in modded kegger land for now.

then you will need this ,

Throttle Body AdapterYou can save time and money by using this Mopar Throttle Body Adapter. Although it will require minor fabrication, this adapter will allow you to use a stock Magnum engine throttle body on a 4-bbl carb intake.

Strictly from an air temp stand point I doubt that manifold gets the air into the cylinder much if any cooler.
Coolant still flows through it and the bottom of the manifold is still exposed to oil splash from the lifter valley so the manifold will probably get just as hot as the stocker.
There may be other benefits to this single plane style but I wouldn't buy it based on air temp alone.

That's what I've heard, but I think it would be a decent trade off for someone like me who will never be using this truck for heavy towing. I am eventually getting a diesel for that. I would like to dyno before and after just to see first-hand how much tq is lost...would probably be useful to the forum...[8D]

Ya, it would be very useful. Everyone acts like they know, but even the few who have tried it only report from the butt dyno.

If you do that let us all know; I think we're all interested in plenum alternatives. That repair kit is 200 dollars less, so I'll sacrifice my time to save the cash, but if that M1 works well with a stock setup then I might consider it. I doubt I'll ever build up my block to that extent though.
