Changes about to go down.
It's true the poor boy has been bent over more than his share lately.
I've worked with a few guys that were qualified on paper that should have had their tool boxes confiscated for public safety.
As for the sway bar it's a long twisted bar that connects the suspension to the body. It helps prevent body roll when cornering or cross winds. It helps with basic stability. once you lift past 3" you need special drop brackets or linksto make the bar still fit properly. Lots of time lift kits don't come with these drop brackets so the bar gets disconnected or removed.
Sometimes the bar is intentionally removed for better off road performance too.
This sway bar is pretty important and body roll (or sway) is worse on a lifted truck due to the higher center of gravity.
If you post a pic of your front axle from the front I can tell you if the bar is there.

Here is a pic. The sway bar is hanging down from the body in the pic but it is still attached to the front axle.
Good move taking it to a different tranny shop too. Ask if the shop is an A.T.R.A. member.
Usually they will have a sign or sticker on the door stating if they are a member.

Heres a picture of a sway bar so that you can see really clear. Thats a great catch though
I doubt there was very many people who thought of the sway bar. I know I didn't.

You can get a tranny and a pleneum kit here and get it all taken care of. I have a pleneum kit sitting in the other room from him right now it's just not installed. I got the deluxe with all the bolts and gaskets. Thats what I was told I should get as I was told not to reuse the old bolts. I'm really not sure my pleneum is bad. If you plug the PCV and plug on the other valve cover and then let go it blows out like it should and acts like it should only thing is there is a slight bit of oil if you look down the tb but it's not much at all not like I've seen pictures of on here.
Sounds to me like you are getting screwed. Instead of letting a shop screw you on a transmission rebuild and pleneum repair I'd seriously consider getting a good tranny from one of the online companys we recommend. I have a feeling that we are going to be hearing from you in 6 months about how your freshly rebuilt tranny is acting up.

My tranny was done by an atra certified shop. I get like 1yr or 10,000 miles. Shop seemed to do a good job. Guess I'll find out down the road haha.

The only downside I see is that you have to pull it yourself or pay to get it pulled and put back in since he isn't local to do that part.
