I think they will stick out quite a bit with 17x10's and the right backspacing. I'd say go with the 285/75's but others may have a better size idea. I had that size on an f-150 I used to have with 16x10's and they stuck out just right. Not quite as much as my 16x10's and 315/70's on my Ram, but it looked pretty good for an F-150.

I think the tires would help.

Well right now I am getting the transmission addressed. It could be as simple as their being no oil in the tranny pan anymore. When I go there I'm just going to tell them that transmission leaked oil, and to see why it leaked oil. I may get away with just having to fix some sort of seal and filling it back up. The tires are pretty relavant though to that tranny issue though. The tires obviously ate the transmission up over the years. I want to fix this transmission, or replace it and it to be a done deal. By lowering the truck and getting the smaller sized tires, this will almost ensure a more healthy transmission. Sure I could invest into gears, but that would only solve half my problem. Even if I got bigger gears, I'd still be dealing with the fact that my truck sucks on the highway, and on backroads. I plan to own this truck for many years to come, and I cannot see myself constantly making driivng such a damn chore just to have big tires to go mudding in. I'd much rather sacrifice a couple cool points in the tire/lift department so I can have a vehicle that functions realistically throughout my life. Again, 285s are not small tires either, it's still going to be a bigger than usual truck. Also, by getting 285s, I can have a little more fun in the speeding department, which I love to do. So whats the final verdict on the wheels and tires. I plan to get the 285s and the truck lowered immediatly after the transmission is fixed. I won't be able to get new wheels right away, so I'll stick with the offroad wheels until I can afford them. But what tire size should I get. And with a 17" wheel, how wide do you think I should go, and what kind of backspacing should I get to make sure the truck has that cool wide stance? I know if I'm getting it lowered I'll want it wide at least, because I know I'll be a little sad about the truck being lower, but I know it's the right move for me.

285/75s with eventually 17x10 wheels with 4.5 inch backspacing; that's my vote anyway. I think that would lookreally good and make them stick out and give the agressive look that I think you would like for it to retain. Good luck getting the tranny fixed.

Thanks man for the numbers. I hope it's just something silly with the transmission. If it in fact did leak all that tranny oil in my grandparents driveway, then that would completely explain why it wouldn't shift the next morning etc. Also, I think your are right, a 17x10 wheel with 4.5" backspacing will make it so the tires will stick out past the fender flares, and it will still be badass

Listen, obviously I know my truck the most. The transmission was already on its way out. There is no doubt in my mind its ****ty because of years of oversized tires, period. Sure, I like to speed in it, and I'm sure it helped speed the process up, but it's speeding that normal transmissions should be able to handle. Like I said, I'm telling people what I'm about. If I wanted a lift and tires, then I'd compromise with being slow. But I like my truck to be all around, and I think by putting it back to where it was with diesent size tires, it will be even more versatile, and be able to handle casual speeding. When I am not speeding though, I am a very cautious driver. I use the best of all fluids in the truck, and I always take care of her. This truck came with a bad transmission, I already knew that. But like I said, this tranny may not be done, it could just be because of a seal. IF it did in fact loose oil up there, then thats why it started acting so funky all of a sudden, and it may just be a simple simple problem.

Tranny fluid is as important as coolant, actually moreso. Not only does the fluid in the trans lubricate, it also performs hydraulic functions, as well as cools the trans down. Low fluid level = hotter fluid = toasted trans. Keep the fluid topped off if you have a leak. No more burnouts. Burnouts do not harm the trans...except when you dont have enough power to spin the tires and all you do is load up on the trans like iv seen in your videos.

Yeah, good points. I wonder why the truck would suddenly have such an intense leak though? It's so hard for me not to speed though, I just love it, obviusly you know what I'm talking about, it runs in the blood and you cant fight it. I think I'll be showing my true skin when I lower it more and have it with a cool wide stance. Then speeding wont be so brutal when its not having to lug around those 35" tires. It will make driving the truck more enjoyable too when its a little more stable. Like I said, mudding, to me, I use the 4 wheelers for that. I dont see where its worth loosing mpgs, stabilty, speed, and usuability just for mudding. Maybe if I mudded with her and that was my passion, then it'd be easy to accept those, but me, I'm not a mudder, just not my style. A 4x4 truck with some street credibility is more of my taste, I think it will be equally as neat when I execute my plans with her.

I'm sorry man I like you. Your are a nice enough kid but your truly an idiot. Complete absolute idiot. First everyone on here has told you that the tires are not whats ruining your tranny. It's your driving habits. When you try to burn out and don't have enough power it destroys your torque converter. The biggest reason that your an idiot and shouldn't own a truck is if your grandparents tell you that your oil is leaking then the first thing you do before you drive anywhere is check and fill it. If you take it to the tranny shop the first thing they are gonna check is the oil. If they are honest then they will keep looking for other problems. If they are dishonest they are gonna stop after the tranny oil and tell you it's gonna cost you two grand to fix the tranny because they know you don't know **** about trucks. Then to top it off you'll pay them the two grand to replace the tranny because you can't handle being away from the truck so that you can jizz on it because it sounds so good instead of waiting for a bullet proof tranny from APS, Fastman, or Dr. Evil. Whatever it's your truck I just don't understand why you ask us all for help and for our opinions and then completly disregard it every damn time.
