Default Need posi rear, 9 1/4 or dana 60?

I am trying to convert my truck to a light street racer. I have a 97 1500 pick up with a 5.2 and a 9 1/4 rear open. I need a posi rear because i will be putting in twin turbos. Is there a posi assembly i can buy for the 9 1/4 and would it hold the increase in horsepower? or should i get adana 60? and do those come with a 5 lug hub, i dont want to change rims. some one please help!

I think there were some diff covers that added additional bracing to the 9:25 but the Dana 60 is probably still better.
You could probably get custom axles fro a 5 bolt or possibly re drill the 8 lug ones.
Ever concidered a Ford 9"?

would switching to a ford rear make anything easier? my main concern is so the 9 1/4 doesnt blow up on me if im racing.... i dont expect a huge increase in horse power, i just want to make sure the rear can sustain in.

I'm not sure what the point of that would be since the ford 9" is not as strong as the chrysler 9.25

While certainly not bullet proof I'm quite sure a Ford 9 inch will endure way more abuse than a 9:25. I would rate the 9:25 better than the 8.8 they put in most ford 1/2 tons but not higher than the 9 inch

Had bad luck with Fords Cereal?

I would hope you would get a substantial power increase with twin turbos. Why such low expectations?

Nah not really. I had a 19902wd ranger I put through all kinds of hell and it held up alright. Exhaust system rotted out. Frame cracked in half. One iac went out on me. One water pump. Ate about 2 quarts of oil per 3000 miles. Ironically the transmission and the rear end held up fine and I use to spin the tires (little tires though) and all kinds of stupid **** all the timein that truck.

Wll, my expectations are low for the twin turbo because I do not want to do any internals on the engine, at least not at this point. So I don't plan on boosting more than 10 pounds, and some local turbo users say that might even be pushing it. And if the 9 1/4 can stand some punishment I'll stick with it, less to swap out, just need to get a posi inside it.

I woudn't run more than 8 pounds but it's up to you. I don't think you'll have a problem with the 9.25 it's a pretty strong axel. Just not nearly as much aftermarket for it as there is for the dana 60. Check out auburn limited slips.

I'd go with a Auburn LSD or Detroit Trutrac or whatever. I would stay away from the factory trac locks. They don't seem to hold up under stock power so I'd really be cautious using it with a twin turbo setup.

I put a Auburn LSD in my truck to replace my factory LSD that was coming apart.
