5% is really really dark. Much darker than the stock tint on the ext cab windows.
I had 5% or limo tint on one of my old trucks. It looked nice but was dangerous to drive at night. I didn't like it.
It's actually Illegal now where I live to tint below 35% on side windows.

Hmm...that's a good question. I don't know though, stock tint on most trucks really isn't that intense. Last fall I had my three rear windows tinted limo. And had the fronts tinted 50%. Now that I have my demerit points back, I'm getting my two front windows limo tinted in april which should look awesome. I got bagged for tint in my stupid neon because it's just so obvious in a car. In Maine, a car has to be all 50%. But in trucks, suvs, and vans, it can be as dark as you want in the rear. So it's easy to just be cautious about the front two windows, in a car though, it's kinda hard to monitor 5 windows lmao.

You can put it on the back window and or the extened one and a little lighter on the door windows and you'll be amazed at how it will turn out.I see cars with 5% on all the windows but the front 2 and even in the day it's still hard to see in them...switch your idea around and it will work just fine.

I have my front two windows tinted 35% right now and am not at all happy with them. You can't see in if you look straight on unless you are up close but if you get upclose or look at the right angle you can see in. I don't know why but I like them dark. I don't want to tint my rear windows with 5% as I had it on my old truck and you are right it's a pita to see out of at night. My theory with the side windows is I can roll them down as if it's dark I usually have to do that now anyway. I don't want the back windows 5% as I can't roll them down so I want to see out of them. I've heard 20% is a close match to them but the 20% I've seen you can still see in fairly easily if the light is right which is how mine are now. The rear is sort of like that but not as bad as some I've seen. I wouldn't mind the rear being darker if it wasn't for the fact I don't want to have to worry about seeing out of them at night.
