But like hometheater, I just am way too attached to this truck and have too much sunk into it to ever sell it. Plus, I can't even explain how much I went through to get this truck in the first place, was not easy. I went to the bank today, and they are accepting me for a loan. Of course I need my dad to cosign with me seeing that I don't have any credit history, but I will be paying for the loan at 7%. I'm very excited about this. For one, I will have a credit history by doing this, and two, I can do this on my own without burdening my parents for something that is my problem. I'm going to get this done right. The truck will have the absolutely best transmission it can have with a big warranty, along with all the other components to a transmission that will make it last for the life of the truck, and this really excites me. Sure there will be more stuff to address, but right now, the tranny is the big one. Up next for me is replacing the mud tires and getting those procomp all terrains. That will be a killer duo with a brand new transmission and some nice smooth treaded tires, it will ride like a brand new truck. Then, I will start to tackle the rest of the suspension pieces that need to be replaced to make it a safe lift. I love this truck, it's my dream truck. It has everything I've ever wanted in a truck, so there is no use in buying another truck and trying to modify it all over again. When I finish the tranny work, it will have everything I've ever wanted, and that will be nice. I'm going back to the bank in about an hour with my pops to finish off the loan. I'm pretty excited that I'll be getting to deal with this on my own without my parents breathing down my neck. So lets hope this will be a new beginning with my ram. Just something about these dodges

So are you going to go with the tranny from the local shop?

I'd try to find a decently low mileage nv3500 manual tranny and have the shop put it in for you. I doubt it'll cost more the 3,500 or whatever you're already putting into, plus you'll get alot more power out of a manual transmission.
Need a new PCM to do that, plus center console section, pedals, etc. That is not as easy as it might sound, a run of the mill trans shop would probably not agree to do anything like that.
Ok guys, I take a little breathe here. I got the loan. $4,000 loan at 7%. I will be paying $98 a month for the next 4 years. I went down to the transmission shop and talked to Mark. I told him I got the loan, and the job was a green light. He brought me out back and showed me some of the other transmissions they were working on. They hey several transmissions in there that were being built for dodge cummins that were being used as street trucks. Man, these things were BUILT. He made me feel really good though. They really know what they are doing over there. He reassured me once more that this transmission was their ultimate heavy duty, the kind the caliber trannies they use for their cummins. He said it would be designed for the truck and be able to handle the 35" tires, and any kind of thing I want to do it. I told him I plan to continue to build the truck up, so it's going to be able to handle more torque and horsepower. He also showed me the aftermarket transmission pan they will be using, and it's a very nice product. Looked to be about double the depth of the stock transmission, and was very heavy. Was also quite attractive looking. He also explained how they will be installing a large stand alone transmission cooler that will go with the truck. For the torque converter, he said it will most likely be set around 1500 rpms, and be able to withstand heavy loads and torque. So, this thing is going to be their top of the line transmissions. Then he said, they dyno all of their transmissions before they are installed to make sure everything is set to par for the truck. They also will be fixing both the pinion seal leak and the transfer seal leak. He also will reset the speedo. So in final were looking at their top of the line heavy duty transmission designed for the truck being installed. A stronger and bigger tranny pan, and cooler being installed. The seals being fixed, the speedo being recalibrated, with a 3 year/70,000 mile warranty for $4,000. I took a $4,000 loan out, and I got them to sit at exactly that. This price is disgusting, I know this, but it's worth it to me. The truck will be brand new. It's going to be so nice having a transmission built specifically for what the truck is. Then after the tranny is done, we're going to work together to pick away at the front end and making sure it's all sound. Then, I plan to buy some nice all-terrain tires for the truck before next winter starts. I can't wait to have my baby back. Everything is ready to go, and they said she should be ready for next Thursday or Friday. They really look like they know what they are doing and run a very reputable shop, I am confident with their work, and that giant warranty. I'm a little stunned how much this is, but...there is no way around it, any route I went I was looking at this kind of price if I wanted to get a transmission that was designed for the way the truck is built, but I won't have to ever look back at the transmission, so this is good.
