the low down....it happens almost ever time i drive it now...it will start up fine and drive great for about 10 minutes...then i will hear sucking sound from the throttle body area and it will start coughing and popping...it will go away after few minutes....I have replaced all spark plugs, idle air control sensor and cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner. RE: ruff idle...still
FYI, i finally took mt truck in to our local shop...No check engine light ever came on....they put it on the computer and got a code for a bad o2 sensor...and $339 later it was replaced with a new one. It runs great now but, i feel like i was violated. The new o2 sensor was $145...and thew rest was labor and putting it on the computer.

Actaully they did kind of put it to you. Your 2001 is designed to allow you to pull the CEL codes without having a separate computer. My 2001 has the digital tripmeter as yours probably also has.
What you need to do is the following:
With the engine off, turn the ignition key to on, then off, then on, then off, then on.
Your digital tripmenter will then provide you a list of all CEL codes that the computer has stored into memory.
Then come onto this site and do a search on the forum for those codes and see how others resolved their problems.
In order to clear all of the codes without an outside computer you will need to reset it. To do this pull your positive battery cable and then turn your ignition to on. Let it in the on position for a couple minutes, turn the ignition off, then hook your positive cable back on. This re-sets the computer to base mode and it can start re-learning your driving habits and should not have any old codes still in it.
