Default 2000 Ram 4x4 Electrical

2000 Ram 4x4 ext cab automatic with a 5.9 engine. I jump started my sons truck the other morning and since then all my dash gages including tach and spedo will not work and the check engine, fuel, abs lights are all on continuously and the over drive switch will not work. In the area where the mileage is displayed it shows NO BUS or NO BU5. I unhooked the battery and turned on the lights to completely discharge the system and when I hooked the battery back upeverything seemed to have reset to normalbut after driving the truck about 10 miles it did the same thing again. I have checked all the fuses and I checked it for any fault codes but it dosen't regester any. Help! I don't have a clue where to go from here. Any suggestions? Thanks

I think you may have fried your PCM. Moving this to the 2nd Gen section for more views.

I bet you did not connect the ground jumper to the chassie. When Jumping Always put the black jumper to the frame or shock tower or anything but never the battery.

do a search in here for no bus. check all fuses. rabbler (i think) suggested unplugging all sensors to see if it would go away, and then plug them back in one at a time.

The bus wires could be chaffed and shorting (intermitantly), maybe a sensor, or another computer is fried (it dosen't have to be the PCM). eg, if the BCM is flaking out and shorting the bus out or the TCM. Can you get any codes?, I think the connector that the reader hooks to is not on the main bus, and is a direct interface with the PCM. How are you trying to obtain your codes, via the key trick, or a scan tool?

you could try leaving the battery detached for a couple hours

I'm having a similar problem but my guages, stereo, power windows, power locks don't work at all. I've checked all the relays and fuses and still nothing. Could it be the BCM is bad even though the dome light and blower still works? Are there specific sensors I should check?

Thanks for the help and good luck 06TC88.
