Reread the instructions last night, and honestly, they could be intrepreted either way. It's not 100% clear if they are talking about the new style or the old style when they say to use the Ultra Copper. I assumed it was the new style since that is what came with the kit and these instructions. Guess I could be wrong, but I have not had any leaks yet. I'll be checking again this weekend, and see if it is still holding. In the mean time, i'm going to contact Wayne at APS and see if he can clear up what his instructions are saying.

What is the lower intake gasket? The shop asked if I wanted the upper one changed and I told them the pleneum which he said was the upper so I'm assuming thats all I'm getting changed.
The lower is the intake to block, and intake to heads. I don't think you have to replace them if they are in good condition but, I wanted to use the felpro upper and all they had instock was the complete kit so I replaced them all.

I would always replace all the gaskets. It is the only way to ensure you don't have any oil leaks. That means the plenum gasket, pan rail gaskets (front and rear), and manifold/head side gaskets.

Talked to Wayne. He said the metalic one can be installed either with or without RTV. I told him I did it with, and he said shouldn't be an issue. He said it really doesn't matter what gasket you use, with the new thicker aluminum pan, you really shouldn't have any leaks as long as your intake side mounting surface is flat and true.

So, I think you should be fine using any gasket (the old Mopar, the new Mopar, Felpro, etc...). I'll check mine again for leaks this weekend, but so far no issues.

I used Ultra copper on the plenum gasket, and The Right Stuff on the block.

Got my truck back from the shop today and it looks like they changed the lower intake gaskets too. I guess since they were included in the kit. I also had some bolts that had apparently rusted through. I guess what was holding the intake down. He showed me these bolts and they sure enough were rusted through he said it was fairly common and from water leaking and getting on them. Oh well, atleast I have my truck back now.

I had one bolt that was rusted through just as you described. It was the one in the front passenger side of the intake.
