Default Hughes plenum kit

Should I use the steel gasket that comes with the kit or should I purchase a Fel-pro gasket??

Look in Silver Dodge's plenum repair thread from last month. We discussed it. Steve is a fan of the FelPro (I have it, it does look nicer than the steel one) while Silver followed the APS instructions to wet RTV the steel one and use that. I think I'm going FelPro this wekeend when I dig into it, but I'll read that thread again.

I'm not sure which is better. The metallic one is supposed to be the improved gasket from Mopar. But Felpro is know for making good gaskets too. If mine leaks again, i'll use the Felpro instead, but so far, no leaks with the metallic one.

In the instructions that came with my kit, it specifically said not to use RTV on the steel gasket

Silver did you use silicone on the steel gasket?

The instructions I have say to use Ultra Copper on the gasket provided with the kit (which is the metallic gasket). It even goes into a little detail describing how much to use becasue too much could actually result in leak. It said not to use any on the old style gasket, which is the paper gasket.

That gasket that comes with the hughes kit already has a sealer on it and it's not metallic so you shouldn't use rtv. What I did was buy a fel pro gasket set for the intake wich comes with the lower and upper intake gaskets. The upper is for the plenum.

Mine seems to be just a metallic gasket, there is a ridge in the gasket.........I guess it smashes down and makes the actual seal

I think im going to give Hughes a call.....and see what they have to say about the situation, because I do not want it to leak again
