Default Bad Track Bar?

Hey guys, does anyone know how to tell if your track bar is faulty? I got my wife to turn the steering wheel back and forth while I was under the truck (quick note-never make yourself worth more dead than alive) and the joint at the frame bracket (drivers side) moves up and down within itself. This is a grease fitting joint and was wondering if this normal?

should be no play in it at all , another sign of a bad trac bar is if you find your self chasing the truck down the road another words you keep correcting the steering..

then its time for a change , MO go with MOOG ....Good luck.. rember the trac bar keeps the front axle in trac , so since you are chasing it the axle is moving back and forth not much that you can see it you just feel it...

Depending on how many miles on your truck, when u go to replace the track bar, make sure u look at the whole front end. By the time I got to replaceing mine. My upper and lower ball joints where wasted. Also had to have the whole front drive train rebuilt. Once had that done, wow. Felt like new truck and actually sat an inch higher because joints where so bad. Put the heavy duty bar in and love the feel of my new 97!
