i was just thinking
i was just thinking. our trucks are roughly 5000 to 6000 lbs. i know that our engines dont really have a hard time moving that but it takes a lot of gas to move it. i was just wondering if any of you have ever thought about lightening up our trucks or if any of you have already. i was thinking about doing that but i dont know what i can remove w/out messing with the integrity of our rigs. if any of you have any input about this i would definately like to hear it (read it

Lose the bed, replace with ALum flat bed
Lose exhaust, replace with straight pipes from collectors to dump under bed
Replace windshield with lexan and find a carbon fiber hood.
Alum Alloy 15" rims with 30x9.50 tires
Remove a leaf from each of the rear springs...
Go on a diet..
Honestly, unless you do a lot of gooseneck towing and the first option apeals to you, the only reasonable thing I can think of is leave the spare tire at home.

Well. You could start by not installing that 12" sub, or the amp. (But for my truck that would kill me. I love my music!)
You already have a 2WD so that helps.
Really, You could do weight reduction, but at a cost to the integrity of your truck.
If your looking for better gas millage, you could put the 3.7L 6 cyl in there.
These trucks aren't meant to be light weight. And they were designed and built during the days of $1/gallon gas.
I can completely understand about wanting to get better gas mpg, as I am currently getting about 9 mpg due to some repairs that need to be made right now. But It's a truck. It's not gonna get 25, 30 mpg's. Although I'd be extremely happy with 15.

right right i undersand its a truck i was just hopeing. the reason i asked is cuz i want to get a custom bumper/pushbar. and since im 2wd was gonna do the whole prerunner deal. the bumber is all 3" steel and HEAVY, and just wondering if there was anything i can do to offset the additional weight. does anyone make baja fenders?
i have seen fiber glass prerunner fenders somewhere so that could save some a fiberglass hood lose the spare keep it at a half tank instead of full
